This game was 22 Georgia vs Tennessee. Only a two score difference, but it was clear as hell in this game one team was better than the other. The better team got more much more conservative in the 2nd half.

OUs defense is really good, though.

So the Tennessee fan narrative on this game is your coach left in your starters the entire game so he could ruin the shite out of their stats on the way to only scoring 6 points in the entire second half?

Is your depth that bad, or are you full of shite?

And why did you run the ball 8 straight times in the 1st half while only up by 9 points after your QB got strip sacked for the 2nd time?

You guys can try to push it off as this stupid crap all you want, but what I saw was a team that couldn't protect it's QB trying to bail him out after getting the benefit of having his mistakes erased twice by the Oklahoma QB.

Tennessee was fortunate.

Heupel - no problem running up the score on other teams, starts to take it easy in the 2nd quarter because he's sentimental to Oklahoma.

Meanwhile, do you fricks even realize this is saying your HC is a dumbass?

I'm not melting at all, Tennessee is not for real. Better than usual, but not the elite team being claimed, and the performance last night was certainly not impressive.

When I have to pretend like my coach took his foot off the gas in an SEC game while having a small lead and playing the starters the entire game, I might start melting.

No, he did not try to shorten the game. He was trying to score the entire time.

Tell me, how did the last TD Tennessee scored in the game(2nd quarter) happen?

8 runs in a row. Was Tennessee trying to shorten the game then too? 5 minutes left in the 1st half with a 9 point lead?

No. They didn't pass because the last pass attempt before those 8 runs results in a strip sack fumble. Which was not the first of the game, but the 2nd time.

You guys don't know shite about football. Thinking a coach let off the gas because he had a 16 point lead in an away game at half time? You're fricking retarded if you believe that shite.

If the game was never in question, why did Tennessee play their 1st string until the last play?

Well stated. I think after a big win that teams posters come out of the woodwork to brag and lose sight of the details. Losing team fans say less so they don’t appear to be whining.

But once things settle down the facts come out. Also as a fan the game day atmosphere from morning to after game was awesome and is why we moved to SEC. The Tenn fans were great as well, lots of friends were made outside of the on field play.

As for the game it truly did come down to QB and defense. OU D played good enough to win and kept playing hard til the end. That was my concern, how will our D play in SEC. Test passed.

QB play for OU was inexcusable. He had issues every game prior but it was sold as bland playbook. Rumors were Hawkins outplayed him in fall camp. But chalked up as 2’s vs 1’s. Now we know it was true and questions need asked why Jackson wasn’t replaced in prior games.

Was it NIL driven? That is something that all top teams might face going forward, when so much money is given to a supposed top player and they play bad - are there forces at play to push the highly paid player to keep playing? We may never know but its worth some thought. At some point every team will face this dilemma.

Jackson was the 3rd lowest rated QB of over 140 teams. And a majority of his issues were self induced. Another play not mentioned much is a RPO where he pulled ball from RB who had a wide open run up gut and then JA failed on the pass. Play after play he made wrong reads. The lateral pass - BV even said thats an easy run read call. It was the difference in the game.

And not to take away from Tenn defense they are good. But JA cost us that game and the way our D played had we scored on the 5 yard turnover its a different game. I was super impressed with our D. They were exhausted and had to be frustrated at O yet they never quit. I was encouraged with Hawkins and even though teams will scheme against him - likewise, we can equally scheme with him too. He is a calm customer and plays with passion. But Tenn didn’t rattle JA - what I mean is he was as bad in the first 3 games so it wasn’t new or induced by Tenn. he played like crap all 4 games thos year.

If we trot out Arnold the fanbase will be livid.

From BV:

quote:

Brent Venables on making QB change: The first turnover was 'whoa' you have to throw that away, don't force that...We fumble the ball in the red zone, don't like that...come back and have a lateral behind line on RPO, the read is run it all day.

It's funny how not a single Tennessee fan is able to dispute it.

Come on, where did your narrative go? Everyone knows the best coaches always start taking it easy on their SEC opponents with small leads at half time.

Oh wait, it's because your coach has a vagina and got all up in his emotions because it was Oklahoma right?

Every turn over OU had they gave the ball back on the next play. I have never seen anything like that.

Thats why the D impressed me. They had to go right back on field and do it again and again. Tenn had all off season to scheme this game and our D stood firm. Held them to 23 considering the click and circumstances thats impressive. And our D lost a few players as well, but have good depth.

Its 180 from the years of great QBs/Offense. But all those stud O players and no titles means you need D to win it all. Once we get the O figured out we’ll be in the hunt.

But overall it was a great game and atmosphere ignoring JA plays. Lots of traveling fans commented how nice our fans were compared to norms.

On the one that lead to Tennessee scoring shortly after and the starting QB getting pulled, it was a -21 yard play that resulted in a fumble.

He actually advanced the ball for Tennessee 21 yards in 1 play.

That said, I personally thought it was a forward pass and a bad call.

Clearing up loose ends today from a narrative Tenner fans put out:

Narrative: Tennessee took their foot off the gas, allowing Hawkins to score twice in garbage time against a defense that had let up.

Fact: Per PFF, Tennessee blitzed Hawkins at a higher rate than they did Arnold. A successful two-point try would have made it a one score game

Tenn should worry because other teams with a decent QB can beat you. Tenn was contained and had Hawkins started game OU wins.
