I’m not an OU hater but this is full delusion. That game was nothing short of a program altering disaster. OU sent Gabriel packing, committed 100% to the future with Arnold, got a big night game at home to enter the SEC on a national platform, and the Arnold plan was over before halftime to experiment with a 3 star scrambling freshman.

Wrong. JA beat OU. Tenn should worry because other teams with a decent QB can beat you. Tenn was contained and had Hawkins started game OU wins. That turnover at 5 yard line JA had an open RB in the right to toss to for a TD. Do that and its a different game. We beat ourselves with a bad QB. It was already an issue before Tenn game but it was thought playbook. But it was our QB and thats the bottom line. Throwing into triple coverage. Throwing a lateral bounce pass. Making wrong reads time after time. It was all on Arnold.

Tenn is really good, not taking that away. But with a serviceable QB from the start OU wins.

Yeah what is up with the Whelps? So insecure.

I guess they're slowly realizing that 'Le Run' is over.

They're at best the fifth best team in the SEC. It's starting to sink in

But at the time he was not staying if DG stayed and he had all the tools to be great. Turns out he’s a bust. DG left to not cause problems.

What kind of program allows a true freshman QB with no experience to push out an established senior starter, not because he beat him, but to avoid causing drama with a true freshman threatening to transfer if the senior starter doesn’t transfer first?

The fact that Arnold has already been benched 3 games in makes it so much worse. This is fireable incompetence by the HC. Probably a reason he stayed a DC all his career.

Dude heupel came out 2nd half and knew game was in hand. He literally ran ran ran punted because he knew your offense couldnt do enough to come back. Game was in hand, he just put offense in cruise control, no neee to risk any turnovers. Easy win, welcome to the sec! Looks like you guys will be sitting at the kids table with vandy and kentucky

I'm kinda pissed at Heupel about that. I wanted him to put the pedal to the metal. But I understand why he didn't.

Good game, OU, but to say you would have won had Hawkins started is BS, IMO.

He took us by surprise a little, but we would have made adjustments. Banks goes into a 3 down line soft zone with 9 minutes to go an allows for some wide open spaces for your young QB. Had he stayed aggressive you would not have scored both TDs.

Josh called the most conservative game since he's been at Tennessee, too. A lot to do with your salty defense, and a lot to do because we lost our starting right tackle and were playing our 3rd string left tackle.

Jackson Arnold is OU. Your HC gave him that stature. Acting like everything is magically better because he was benched ignores the fact that Arnold is the best you have and OU spent all offseason preparing him, not your 3 star backup freshman.

Complete delusion. Tennessee went ultra conservative on offense because the only way they could lose was more turnovers.

Reality is we gave that game to them.

Tennessee controlled that game the entire. Night. Tennessee took its foot off the gas in the 2nd quarter. Your field was slop and cussed people to get hurt so Heupel decided to slow it down and work the clock and get out of Norman. Also Tennessee had both tackles out and was on its 3rd string Tackles. Tennessee walked into you home without a few starters on the Oline and ran the ball 52 times and you couldn’t do anything about it.

Tennessee ran the ball 52 times and only passed it 20. This is the 2nd most times we ran the ball in a game this year. Ran it 55 times against Kent St, but ran it 45 and 46 times against Chatt, and NCST.

quote:

Our defense is legit and when you factor in how much time they spent on field due to offensive malpractice, its amazing what they did.

Tennessee ran the ball 52 times with a 2nd string OLine. Tennessee played a former walk on in place of Herd that had only 8 starts in his career.

quote:

On top of Jackson mistakes, we are missing too many players.

His mistakes were because of Tennessee! Tennessee were missing half its OLine. We was down to our 3rd string LT, 2nd string RT and 2nd string RG.

quote:

Tenn is a top 5 team, we really contained them on D.

You purposely let your field grow and wet it down all week to slow Tennessee down. But it backfired because yall were slipping also. But let me say it again, Tennessee ran the ball 52 times. On Sampson TD run, we ran the ball 9 consecutive times to him. We wasn’t doing anything special but man handling you.

If there was any doubt Heuple dialed it back in the second half, 52 rush attempts, 21 pass attempts. Only 5 pass attempts in the second half.

Sometimes all it takes is one play,
In this case 2.
when OU lost the ball twice immediately after fumble recovery.
Bad play calls both.
At least a 10 pt swing.

OU fans will learn this is the SEC and most conference games are decided with 3-5 plays

Tenn shouldn’t apologize for beating a top 15 team by 10 on the road

Survive and move on. Every sec losing team fanbase says “if ____ wouldn’t have happened or if this call or if this guy didn’t get hurt……”

LOL, Tenn bragging about Arnold beating OU.

I like Josh and what he’s built. But their fans on here are delusional. The fans who came to game were great, but its different on here where keyboard warriors post.

quote:

Per PFF, Jackson Arnold had the third-lowest overall offensive grade among FBS starting quarterbacks in Week 4.

^^ That was the ballgame. Arnold lost it. Imagine Hawkins starting and able to move ball. Him scoring at 5 yard line. Hawkins starting means our Defense is not on filed as long and even fresher. 9 points taken off board from Arnold turnovers. Safety taken off board.

You can all brag all you want but everyone knows that game is different if Hawkins starts. Enjoy the win but realize you beat the 3rd worst QB out of over 140 schools lol. Rather, Arnold beat OU.

That's hilarious coming from an A and M guy. Y'all really killed it in the Big Twelve and have continued your phenomenal success in The SEC.

Exactly. Tennessee going conservative and OU getting a couple garbage time TDs with a scrambler Tennessee had not practiced for doesn’t mean OU somehow wins if the backup were in all game.

Maybe yall wouldn't have had all these injuries if you would fix your dang field. That field doesn't meet SEC standards. It was like a backyard small high school game field. That being said Oklahoma has a legit defense. I know ppl are complimenting TN & maybe rightfully so but I didn't like run the whole second half offense TN played. That's not TN or who we are. In the end, if yall can put a decent offense with that D yall could really do some damage.
