Miles certainly isn't the first SEC coach to take a shot at a reporter. Saban used to do it weekly whenever anyone had the nerve to question his decisions. He's mellowed a bit over the past few years, but he took some good shots in the past.
The issue is with responding to a fan. It doesn't matter what they say or do. Just like Ron Artest wasn't justified in going into the stands to find a guy who threw ice on him, no coach should be reacting to fans. I know we're all human and prone to slip up, but once players and coaches get to this pay scale, they have to remember that the bullseye is on them and that there is absolutely no privacy anymore. If you flinch once, it's open season. Every idiot fan at every OM game for the foreseeable future is going to take their best shot at him to try and get a similar reaction.
Think about it this way. 2/3 of the LSU fan base was ready to run Miles out on a rail in 08 and 09. You think he didn't take some shots from fans? How about Richt when UGA was struggling a few years ago. Hell, as crazy as Orgeron was, he never did this that we know of. You think no one heckled him? It doesn't matter what is said. It doesn't matter who to. Let staff or security handle that stuff and just walk away. There's too much at stake. People that can't handle that need to remember that there is a price to being in the big show.

When I saw this I thought Freeze was very much in the wrong. Fans will be fans and disagree alot. The coach needs to have the will power to ignore the bad. I will say it was most likely over the final drive play calling. 3 minutes and we deicide to not even try and run a little clock only needing a FG to win. 3 and out in 10sec. Tisk tisk Freeze. Two years in a row.
