Saw a special on TV once where Neil Shon (guitarist for Journey) was playing with B.B. King and his band. Neil played an entire 16 bar solo in the wrong key.

King had a look on his face like: "What the ..... frick are you doin'?!?!"

Changed keys 5 times (probably didn't know it). Couldn't have found the pitch with a search warrant.
