quote:I mean we haven't had any elite RBs this decade but we've been decently well-off
What “standards” are those. Who has UF had since Fred Taylor?
Mike Gillislee, Matt Jones, Kelvin Taylor, Jordan Scarlett, and Lamical Perine were all good backs. Gillislee and Jones had cups of coffee in the NFL and Scarlett and Perine both have the potential to be alright NFL players

UF RB group def a major prob area heading into 2020.
Hopefully The U’s 3rd string back will help take some pressure off Trask.
He’s got 90 days to learn Mullen’s complex (I say complex but I’m just assuming) pass pro. Hopefully he can learn and apply quickly and effectively.
If not, Trask is gonna take some serious shots.

Dameon Pierce will go into camp the starting RB
Lingard has a higher ceiling. People acting like he was a bust because he sat behind two vet backs with NFL talent as a true freshman and then got hurt are just blowing hot air. I think he'll sit behind Pierce, who should be an above-average but not elite SEC back, at first, because, yes, Pierce knows the scheme much better at this point, but it's certainly nice to have someone who elevates the ceiling of the RB room.

Good info. Thx for taking time to share. Have much better understanding of yall’s RB situation now.

Our RB recruiting has been terrible the past few years, and beyond Pierce and Lingard, there's not much. Malik Davis is still on the team but he's not the same player he was in 2017; the knee injury killed his career. Then we have a few unproven guys in Iverson Clement and Nay'quan Wright, who were both 4*s, but haven't necessarily impressed in their time at UF.
Getting Lingard eligible was important for our depth even if I'm not expecting him to run away with the position right away

Agreed.
As I said earlier. I think RB recruiting the star ranking is more accurate than most positions. It's just easy to spot an elite RB in high school over most positions. Which is why Knox needs to go to me, if we want elite production at the position going forward. Or at least let Brewster be the primary recruiter at that position from now on and let Knox focus specifically on coaching.
