There's one huge difference between CLM and CMR and the reason I've been sold on him since the 05 Canes game. He's a shark, outward demeanor not withstanding, he's a shark who hates to lose probably more than he loves to win. Is it enough to make big changes? We'll see.

Miles does adapt it might be slow but he does do it. I do think he kind of reverted back to old miles though early in this year due to 1/9, injuries and other things but hopefully thats done and we move on. I just dont know if he will change enough to stop messing with the o

Chavis has and always will do the prevent stuff so LSU fans need not pretend its going to change or be fixed. It is what it is and you have to live with that with him as your DC. He did it since the beginning at Tennessee and still does it now. That's why he was 3rd and Chavis. Can't believe how great his defenses were to only collapse at the very end due to playing prevent. LSU was the beneficiary a couple of times when we played them and the hob-nailed boot still hurts.

He's still a great DC - but you have to take the good with the bad in this case.

I've literally not heard a peep from Tenn fans about Chavis since we've hired him.

And now, after 4 years of hiding, here yall all are.

It's not like we wanted rid of Chavis.

But it was a necessary move when we got rid of Fulmer - he was a great DC here... but do you not remember driving down the field with ease in Neyland 7 or 8 years ago to win with under 10 seconds left? Yeah - took me back to that game and 2001 vs. Georgia when watching the LSU defense in the final minute saturday.

Just saying - if it hasn't changed in 15+ years why would LSU fans think the ole stubborn Chavis is going to change his ways now? It isn't going to change - hell anyone could coach that defense successfully with the amount of talent you have on that side of the ball (except Sunseri maybe) - Chavis looks really good with elite players except on crucial 3rd and longs and when he whips out the prevent.

And for the record - I was pissed as hell but saw it coming - nothing would have made me happier than to see Bammer lose that game.

Maybe CLM and Chavis will kick each other in the nutz as a wakeup call.

Dude will quit before he changes - he may be the most stubborn man on the planet. Did Les convince him that he had to help recruit? Just curious because he rarely ever did at UT.

I see a lot of people complaining about the prevent defense, but Norwood caught all those passes out of the slot with his guy playing normal man coverage. The prevent didn't make too much difference. The final drive and after.

Norwood went beast mode on both of the two minute drives, prevent or not. He was really clutch.

Some things to consider:
BAMA knew what defense LSU was going to run against the 2 minute offense. The better coach took full advantage of that.

LSU committed a personal foul that changed the game. Again that is a penalty that reflects the head coaches ability to discipline his team to stay in control and play.

The fake field goal, onsides kick and failure to convert fourth and 1 hurt LSU. Even if it was only in the fact that it killed momentum.

LSU almost won the game in spite of Les Miles decisions. The best thing he did as a coach last night was he had his team mentally ready to fight.

Your coach apparently made no coaching adjustments at halftime which was apparent. Ours did which was also very apparent. Our going to prevent D was a massive fail but otherwise don't act all high and mighty. You were outplayed last night but you pulled out a win. And that is the bottom line.

Chavis does a great job at LSU. His defense is the difference between a winning season so far and a mediocre one.

Promoted Corey Raymond from within...played at LSU. Coached at a local high school, then came back to LSU as an intern and strength coach before being promoted after Cooper left for the NFL.

Mallory and Cooper built the pipelines for talent in that unit under Miles though. Raymond is excelling at continuing the trend

I don't want them fired. I just want them to write 1000 times each, "I will not make any more stupid decisions" and have it due in the principals office by 0800 Monday.

That's what I would do.
