Oregon got the "hammer" because they paid some dude in Texas. I mean, they got hammered so hard they like a scholarship or something like that. Didn't stop them from making it to the national title game last year.

nubbers need a hammer instead of being hammered the by gophers and the mormons

I just saw another clip of the Hail Mary for that BYU game:

At least you're aspiring to be the best notwithstanding being delusional. I can dig that, nebraskafaninwi! I honored.

Can Nebraska ever become relevant again in college football?

I say no, they will resemble Iowa. A few decent years here and there, but they are done on a national scale.

BTW, this thread is so beautiful.

I would say they have as much chance, or probably more than say Missouri or Arkansas. It would take a lot of work though.

True story follows.

I'm driving a rental today and it has Ohio plates.
Guy pulls up beside me and says in a good southern Missouri accent, "frick Ohio."

I gave him the thumbs up and said "Right on, man."

I completely agree with this. They have not been relevant for almost 20 years now. What makes them different from Tennessee is that there are no fertile recruiting grounds. The move to the big10 will kill that program. They don't have the national brand power they once had and are now regulated to competing with the big10 schools for the ohio recruits. They cut their Texas pipeline and have no geographical connections to any other recruiting hotbeds.
