Tennessee is better against the top 50 rpi... aka the teams you will face in the tourney - better finish to the season and better SoS. Nod to UT on the resumes. The top 59 record is huge. Bigger than any other stat.

Do you realize that just under 50% of teams in tourney are outside the top fifty every year.

% is largely due to the mid major automatics that are knocked out in the first round?

You can't justify top 50 RPI wins being less significant than top 100 or even equal.

So now you are moving the argument again? You posted more than once about the top fifty being important because that is the teams they play in tourney. If record against teams in tourney is important, as you have posted, then top 100 is more representitive.

A much better barometer of teams that will be played in tourney is top 100, and its not even close. But this will not support your argument so you will change the criteria once again.

I didnt change my criteria. I said record vs the top 50 is the most impressive stat and its not close. It's what separates resumes and shows that your team has the ability to make a run. You high? The mid majors are gone in the first round or two. The bubble teams around in the 50s and 60s so the lower seeds all have sub 50 RPIs.

.... and you said it was because that it is because these are the teams that play in tourney, I showed that to be incorrect.

If that's the case, then you should use record against top 10. What percentage of rpi 40-50 will be playing after first weekend? It will be very low in comparison to top 10, so why lump them all together in a "top 50" and give them equal importance.

eta. not high

You so high - because you are trying to argue these bubble teams will be playing those lowly RPI AQ's from the mid major conferences that are gone in the first round barring miracle upsets. Bubble teams will be playing top 50 RPI squads. The 1-5 seeds get the lowly RPI squads.

Once again, top 50 RPI wins are the most important stat and definitely trump top 100 wins. Lunardi just got done talking about it yesterday.

I''m not disputing the importance of top fifty according to the selection committee. I am disputing your reasoning and also the committee's selection criteria.

That is possible, but just for my peace of mind. Can you link me to a current or former committee member stating that top fifty is the most important factor in selection. Or is it NCAA mandated, if so, can you link me to that so I will be more imformed.
