Yes, the open practice isn't a scrimmage. The open practice is a day after the scrimmage, and will likely be helmets, shirts, and shorts or half shell.

Meyer won with spread option. I am Coach Boom. I will follow the Sabanization of the SEC. The only way to have success is to run a pro style offense. Spread players? Na man, we are forcing this under center offense.

Boom wants to run the pro set. Most Gators do too. The spread is dead in the SEC for the most part.

Stoops was a go the first time Meyer retired. Not the second time. Timing.

Still haven't seen any available names. Stoops wasn't available.

I wish Spurrier never left UF (despite the success from Tebow, Leak, and Meyer), but thats just me.

Not a bad start, we need to improve some things.

Availability is about how hard you want to go after them. Stoops was obtainable for the right deal. Spurrier may have been gettable but maybe too much history is there. Gary Patterson may have taken it. Pedersen from Boise may have taken it. Pretty much any coach from the Big 1G, the Pac 12, or the ACC outside of maybe Fisher and Beamer would give it a serious look. Many NFL coaches would look at it seriously. The question is who do you want?

Florida is one of the few jobs that can lure coaches that "aren't looking" and never officially are on the market. Any way you slice it Boom was coming off a bad year at Texas and had no HC experience. A good hire for most programs but not UF. Florida is easily a Top 5 job. It boggles my mind how much Boom has managed to get UF folks to lower their expectations for him.

The jury is still out on Boom, we will see after next season if he can survive. I trust in Foley, he is the best AD in the SEC and probably top 5 in the country. If he thinks Boom is the right person for the job then we will wait and see.

Stoops was not attainable after the second retirement. Sorry.

Patterson - perhaps
Pedersen - not leaving Boise
Any coach in the ACC??? lolololol
Pac12? lololol
Big12 lololol

Do some roster searching on the offensive side of the ball and your boggles should be gone. Also, we were down to 62-63 scholarship players last year. We aren't that much better this year.

Meyer left us with a world of chit.

This thread makes me happy for some reason. Can't quite put my finger on what it is though.

UF AD Jeremy Foley knows what he is doing. He knows how to hire coaches. I trust his opinion alot more than SECr's.

For example, the Men's Capital Ones Cup has had one winner and UF has just 8 men's varsity sports out of the 18 counted. Stanford has twice that many at 16 men's.

Please mail your resume to the University of Florida Athletic Department. When Foley steps down I'm sure they will want to take a look at it.

On a side note, for those who've watched the video. What kind of watch is Muschamp wearing?

So how many practices/scrimmages are open to the public this week? Are they on the practice field or in the swamp?

I think only Saturday is open and it should only be a light practice.

Texas still finished top 10 in total defense in 2010. It's obvious now that your hatred of daddy is getting in the way.

If you guys love Boom, more power to ya. The excuses behind him remind me of Aggies who supported Fran after his first year. I agree Foley is a great AD but that doesn't make him infallible, football coaching hires are the hardest of them all. Florida is actually my favorite East school and has a lot in common with A&M so I hope it works out, I just don't see it.

There have been plenty of coaches that were at Texas that I thought highly of. I felt far differently about Chizek when he was there and won a NC and then left. Still I think he was well served by going to Iowa State and taking some lumps before going to Auburn. Boom went straight to the big time. I will admit part of my bias against Boom was my last memory of him at Texas (his last game coaching) had A&M running all over his defense and watching him clearly unhappy in the misery that was sipville that year. It was just odd that was the time to give Boom a Top 5 HC gig, though I know he had to be thrilled.

Most of the Texas staff was fired after the '10 season, Boom got his dream job.
