It's a well known fact that Vandy fully funds baseball though the endowment. Look up Opportunity Vanderbilt.
Not quite true - it is academic. They just recruit the smartest baseball players they can. UVA does the same and they are a public university. They also have a recent CWS.

And now you know why the baseball team is elite. Public institutions could never get approval to use endowment funds for athletics.
Gators could do the same, they just choose not to because they have folks that never went to the University who can write checks to be treated like they did through sports / entertainment arms of University of Florida.

I am willing to admit that there are many things I do not know. But one thing I do know is that if you are endowed you cannot wear short jorts.
BigDGator, you sit on a throne of lies.

Endowment has nothing to do with athletic funding.
It usually doesn't but it's definitely possible to move money there, but obviously if it were that easy and common vandy or A&M would win the SEC every year only to get beat by Harvard in the national title game

How else do you show the ladies what you're working with?

This isn’t how it works at all. Opportunity Vanderbilt gives financial assistance to ALL students (it would be illegal to say just because you are a non-scholarship athlete you can’t get financial assistance). It also is a sliding scale based on family income. The purpose was to get the best students, even if their family couldn’t afford it. Most still ended up with the same average debt that students going to a public school have (about $14K). In other words this simply meant that the advantage that all YOU had with lower baseball athlete student debt was taken away. Imagine a baseball player from modest means. His choice: $14K debt at a SEC school or $150K debt at Vandy! Which would you select? You had the advantage. Yes, we love to tease y’all about all the free scholarships, but it wasn’t true. You had an advantage of lower student debt. OV equalized it. Note: changes at Vandy now say that no student with family income of less that $150K will have to pay any tuition. I assume it’s a sliding scale over that amount.
I get irritated listening to Vandy sports fans and SEC fans alike portraying this incorrectly.
Also not sure of the date of the table listing endowments, but Vandy has $10B.
Now downvote me all you want since it’s apparently more fun to be mad about something that isn’t true. There are a few more rumors that are widely held about Vandy but I’ll save that for another day.
Happy Football Day, May your teams all play well, even in a loss. We are resting up this week for the coming onslaught (Bama and Texas. Yikes.)

If he is a Vandy alum I am sure he knows Dr Dudley was a Kentuckian and he started what is now the SEC at Vanderbilt.
The implied point being made is Vanderbilt (mother of the SEC) is the only PRIVATE school now Sewanee and Tulane are gone. PRIVATE schools are almost (shout out to my peeps at Berea) always more expense, by a wide margin, to attend.
