Everyone said the defense was good last year before they stepped on the field also. Thats why I say its too early to say they are that much improved.
I did not compare Lou and Chavis I just mentioned the last DC to want to put a safety in a LB position was him. Which is 100% true so you can make your own assumptions there.

We had the same weapons last year including D Bryd and it struggled at times. Blame Lee, blame Les whoever you want. But JJ has played in 2 games against Arkansas and GT. He looked good against GT but had a month to prepare for the game. He would be in his first season starting and you yourself mocked first time QB's in a earlier post, but praise him based on 2 games???

I don't care if you pull for Florida,LSU,Alabama or USL. What's so wrong about a guy getting a little carried away with his own team in April ?

Nothing wrong with getting carried away, but why blast one team for something your praising???
I just say take off the P&G on occasion, we all got carried away last year predicting 10-12 wins for the Tigers. Would think it brought us back down to earth.

okay,I didn't see the part about knocking another team for a similar issue to LSU.

My response wasn't directed just at you. I just think on a message board a poster should be allowed to be a "homer" without it being some evil thing. If Washington fans after going 0-12 think they are Rose Bowl bound right now, more power to them.

I am a homer and expect big things out of LSU
but still gotta look at it realistically.

I would love to see Charles Scott go for 2k yards and 20+ touchdowns. But I am a realist and know KW, SR, TH, RM all are going to get their carries also.

I get "accused" of being a homer here all the time. But what I post on the rant and what I might say in court under oath aren't always the same.

What me and my friends discuss for LSU football is different than what I say on rant.
Gotta look more level headed on rant, so I get become a rantard.

Actually, I remember a lot of concern for the defense. Not here, because I wasn't here then, but on Foxsports even the usual LSU homers were noting that the offense shouldn't be doing as well as it was. Last year, the defense was making a Harvard JV QB look all SEC.

And yes, I would take a true freshman QB who was the MVP of a bowl win over a junior QB who has never been a starter in college and only started one year in high school. Career bench warmers =/= SEC caliber QB's.

It was definitely a bad performance, but we had so many young guys that hadn't played much before like Mauck, Spears (converted from TE), Henderson (converted from RB), Addai (floating from RB to WR and back), Turner, Webster (converted from WR), Whitworth (freshman), I just had a feeling we'd be in trouble that day against a veteran VT team on the road.

But definitely not a fun way to start the year.

Agreed!

I love this statement. I need to remember to bump this in 5 or 6 months.
