This is why I don't bother following basketball. Every year it's the same. We look like we're on the cusp of a decent season, winning games we shouldn't, but continually dropping games we shouldn't as well. Then....the inevitable collapse in the final month of the season.

Like clockwork.

Ugly as home made sin game... but by God I'll take any win we can get right now. Tough loss for the Tide.

That's why I don't stress about Arkansas losing early in sec play

It's also the fact that Alabama can't be good at football and basketball at the same time. Looking at the career of Sanderson, he was at his best when football was going through turmoil and uncertainty in the mid-80s. After Stallings got to Alabama and the team started playing winning football again, the basketball program slowly faded back to irrelevance. Then once Stallings left and we began our descent into Hell, basketball got good again under Gottfried.

We haven't been to the tournament since before Saban was hired in '07. It's the price you pay to be elite in the sport that pays for all other sports.

Schools like Florida have had well- rounded ADs in the past. Bama can do it. They just need to take the next step- winning culture.

basketball is a lot more competitive than football.

Programs can be competive if they aren't in Power 5 and/or they are private universities, and the south has no advantage in recruiting like it does in football.

Smaller schools recruit basketball players.

Bigger schools recruit athletes that they hope can turn into basketball players. Obviously, there are exceptions.

Exactly. I never get excited about Bama basketball.
