Indeed.

And even though the OP needs to learn how to better kick off a thread, I'm glad he posted the link so I could learn about the actions of these Texans today.

Agree to disagree.

Surely.

Not a single soldier or Marine is thinking about WBC when they're driving down IED alley or kicking down doors 10 time zones from home.

Micro vs. Macro, my friend. I'm not talking about the individual soldier/marine/airmen, or their individual combat experience. The institution itself (DOD) exist for the reasons I listed. You swear an oath of enlistment or commission to defend a document. That document is what allows ball licking assholes like WBC to exist.

Is this a good thing? A country of over 300M people and 40 dumbasses can wrap themselves in the flag and be excused for something that every other American disagrees with. Screw them and screw the perceived right to be a stupid frick.

That isn't the case everywhere in this world.

Thankfully that is true, some countries still have some balls.

That is also why we are better than everywhere else in this world.

I also hope that people can continue to be huge fricking ball licking assholes like the WBC.

Because in some places, they stone you for drawing a picture of diety. Not here. Thankfully, not here. Why not here? Because of men like him.

So America has no laws on the books that are beyond stupid?

The most simple definition of democracy? 51% forcing their thoughts on 49%. You had just better hope that something you are near and dear to isn't in that 49%...

Allowing people to be free enough to project their own dumbass beliefs is to be "ball-less"? shite, I'm glad this country is ball-less.

It isn't a perfect system, but it damn sure is the best system out there.

You're right. We should supress free expression. That is awesome. It is working so well in other parts of the world.

Of course we do. The drug war is a exercise in futility. However, we (thankfully) still allow people to express their opinion..no matter how misguided and distasteful it is. The patch that the fallen gentleman in the OP wore on his shoulder is reflective of that.

With all that said, this should be moved to the Poli Board.

Agree. Sad as it seems, I'm not sure LSU students could/would pull off something like this.

You must have a short memory, member a couple years ago how many people showed up for the flag burning incident?
