More like desperation since the football team was crap. Only way to keep the dates in their seats was to give 'em something to laugh at. Throw some idiot freshman on the field in janitor uniforms and tell 'em to act a fool and joila!, a tradition is born..........somehow

Pom Poms are fine, look good on TV and yelling beats clapping for noise, an A&M fan should know this.
