They will have job security since Jimbo isn’t going anywhere. They will be getting paid just as much or better than anywhere else. They will have awesome talent to work with. They will most likely have the best incoming class A&M has ever had. They will have a head coach who relies on time of possession to help the defense. They will have a head coach that does not meddle with the defense. They will know that after a few years they will land a head-coaching gig.

In before they will be 8-4 and never win a championship.

Also kudos to Elko for not pulling a fast one on the incoming recruits and leaving after they signed on the dotted line. Wish him well!

If they're smart they'll go get Doug Belk from Houston.

Weird how one coach leaving changes the entire Aggie narrative

It's enticing until you consider the fact that they will have to carry Jimbo on their back for years, just to get a HC job like Duke

Actually Jimbos offense is designed to make the defense more productive. And if it weren’t for Covid, he might’ve been gone sooner than this. He’s also had other opportunities before this.

I’m thinking Leonhard, Odom, or Muschamp.

Key question - can the new DC, under Jimbo Fisher, help overcome all the historical barriers to a football national championship that have plagued A&M since 1940.

For those counting at home...
1940 was closer to WWI than Jimbo Fisher's birth date.

There are so many great coaches to choose from. Our choices are unreal. Kind of like our recruiting class this year.

One certain choice you do not have...

Explaining why A&M's last National Championship in football was closer to World War I (not II) than Jimbo Fisher's birth date.

With this talent coming in, we can hire virtually any current DC we want.

Closer to the Civil War than present day...That's hard to fathom since they can have any coach and player they want.

I predict it’s one of the following:

Pruitt
Mason
Odom
Muschamp
Leonhard

I guess there is a chance we promote from within and give the reins to Robinson, but I doubt it.

That’s a good question. We had a great defense this year but an offense that couldn’t support or complement it. Too many times this year our defense bailed us out. I feel by the time the Ole Miss and the LSU games, the defense was just worn out.

We need an offensive line like the one we had last year that would take over in the fourth quarter with the run game. If we have a quarterback that is better than Mond and a running game like last year, we will have a chance with the recruits that we are getting.
