In most parts of the country the average person couldn't even name who won the national title in college baseball last season.
When it comes to baseball, for the average person, it is all about MLB. The average person could even tell you what big name colleges don't even have a baseball team.

What yall are failing to mention is ESPN created and OWNS the x-games. They have many financial reasons to broadcast it on abc and espn vs putting it on espn2. Its a win-win in broadcasting when you can own the product you're airing.
