Really? You're clearly not familiar with the way things are in that state.

Before Frank Beamer, UVA ran everything. Now, they run everything but football.

And I think it will go back too once Beamer is done. Heck even half of the VA tech football fans in the Richmond area, are Duke or UNC fans during basketball season. You will NEVER see a UVA fan root for UNC in anything, unless it specifically helps UVA

I'm glad we are done with tu. I hope we never play them again except in bowl games. We needed a clean break. We need the separation to make what we have to offer recruits unique and special.

You're making my argument My Man. How did we lose so much yet still kick this mighty Aggy squad 3 skrait?

Wait for it....wait for it....

Mike Sherman.

And the dude still out-recruited Bobby each year (except maybe one).

But you guys really don't recruit shite. Which should have you damn worried.

How's 2013 coming, anyways?

Besides if A&M has to resort to recruiting those states it means in-state isn't going as well as it should be considering you're a Texas school.

No, it would mean we're Arkansas.

The rest of the SEC just doesn't understand. Texas "A&M" screams second rate and will always stay behind Texas in that state. Texas A&M has always had a branding problem and it continues to this day. Not to mention their coaching hires that fit their culture almost never pan out. When the newness of the SEC wears off it will still be Texas "A&M". I don't know hardly any school with "Tech, State or A&M" which are powers. V-Tech and Florida State do not have military image or weird tradition problems. Otherwise, Texas A&M would've been just as good as FSU or V-tech the past 15 years. Black coach, pushing female cheerleaders, reducing the Crops image moving to the SEC etc.. There is a large reasons all of these have happened. The old way sure wasn't working. Bringing a Texas school into the SEC helps Arkansas and LSU. Mizzou has a much better brand than TAMU but they are geographically challenged.

Nail on the head with the branding issues. Kudos for the astute analysis. You're exactly right.

Although you're quite wrong with the Missouri brand comment, at least with respect to the relevant market (Texas). But I'd probably agree with you from a national perspective.

Why did Bama suck for 10 years pre-Saban, but win 2 titles post-Saban?

Could be answer be "because they went from having a shitty coach to a great coach?"

I'm disappointed that some of you guys' analysis is simply "A&M sucks....the corps is gay...recruits don't want to go there"

...seriously? Thats all you got? I thought SEC fans were more knowledgeable than shittalking texas/gaylor fans.

Yes, that's what they've got. It's intellectually dishonest (lazy at best), but it works if you're persuading fellow morons.

They remind me so much of Tech. Which is all right as I'm beginning to miss the tards.

But Sao's the best. He gives you just enough to avoid immediately concluding he's an idiot. It's good trolling.

Tech holds a pretty big win total head to head over you guys as well? Didn't realize they were ever that good. You learn something new everyday I guess.

Nah, A&M leads the series with Texas Tech.

Barely.

A&M reminds me a lot of Texas Tech, come to think of it. About the same level of program, only Tech has had more success in the last decade.

It is easy enough for pundits to banish the Aggies to a future not too dissimilar from the fate Arkansas has lived. The Razorbacks have been average at best and have enjoyed a win percentage some 20 points lower than their win percentage in the old Southwest Conference.

yea the reason it's easy for them is because it is probably true. They aren't going to all the sudden start beating arkansas in any sports that matter. The bottom line is we picked one of those fancy technical or farming schools and the only value from them is that they are in texas and everyone wants to recruit there. Other than that they might as well be the university of phoenix online.

Yea but here is the difference. Arkansas used to be able to recruit Texas in the SWC because you guys played in Texas 3 or 4 times a season. When you went to the SEC, Arkansas cut all ties to Texas and gave a Texas kid no reason to consider Arkansas. aTm will still play 7 to 8 games in Texas and those games are an easy drive for any parent from Houston, San Antonio, or Dallas.

What? 8 of Arkansas' starters last year were from Texas. 5 Of their starters this year will be from Texas, including Knile Davis and Cobi Hamilton.

The most impressive thing about A&M is the size of their student section at games. The second most impressive thing is their band.

Everything else about their program is average to below average.

The rest of the SEC will learn that soon enough.

Not even close. If I had to identify one struggling program with the most potential to become a national contender, it would be aTm. Their campus is within a 3 hour drive from Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio, in a talent rich state. Add to that a massive, excited fan base, huge facility improvement projects, and the momentum and national publicity of a move to the premier conference and you have a potential national power.

I think the more salient point is that you rarely get players who are highly sought after from Texas -- or anywhere for that matter. Notice I said rarely, so relax on countering with the obvious exceptions.

It's just not all that likely that you can continue to develop players no one else really wants; at least not a rate high enough to win consistently. Of course, Bobby sort of proved that wrong. But how many Bobby's will there really be?

And how the frick do you have 0 commits right now (or has changed in the last week or so)? Yeah I know Bobby was fired but hell, there were only two at that time.

We landed Kaleb Blanchard from Louisiana last week.

LINK

LSU really over-looked this kid.

Honestly the player development was more than just Bobby, except for the QBs.

Arkansas' conditioning coach and RB coach are just badasses.
