That's a separate issue, and if it becomes an epidemic, I agree that would be a terrible result of an early signing period. But it's almost entirely a lower-school/non-traditional power issue. The big boys have their pick of great players, and the best players will still dictate their destinies. What school is going to try to unduly pressure a 5*, or even a decent 4*, who knows he can find a dozen other good schools to take him if one school gives him an ultimatum? Bama or LSU or ND tells you to nut up? Auburn or Ohio State or Florida will be waiting in the wings to soothe you and whisper sweet nothings about how they would love you for who you are.

Okay, that image just creeped me out, especially picturing Urban doing it.
