We didn't have 5 SEC home games last year. And we have 3 next year. What the heck are you talking about? Obviously, this article is spinning this the way they want. Why don't they actually go through the chain of e-mails in chronological order? Oh, because then it would become clear EXACTLY what happened.

Oh, and don't throw out the FACT that LSU was willing to play in either BR or Gainesville on Saturday, Sunday or Monday at any time of the day or night, including flying in and out on the same day to save hotel space, which would have not cost Florida anything. Why the frick did these idiots cancel the game on Thursday when it wasn't even clear that the game couldn't be played on Saturday, certainly by Sunday it could have EASILY been played. And, again, because we were willing to fly in and out on the same day, it would not have cost a single hotel room that might have been needed for people who were out of their homes.

The bottom line is that a childish Alleva puts out the entirely stupid assertion that another SEC team is trying to duck a game and the LSU moron fans latched onto the notion and selectively reinforce their own notions in a childish sandbox argument.

Then how else do you explain Foley's actions: Latch onto sticking with the game will be played at 11:00 on Saturday with no exceptions, regardless of any possible weather or emergency response needed toward coastal areas of Florida? For him, it was NEVER about possible effects of the hurricane, despite how the narrative is attempting to be spun and fabricated now. The only possible explanation for this is that he knew that it would have to be either cancelled or postponed to a later weekend and how either of these would have benefited UF.

quote:

Why would Florida want to duck an SEC game against a team that was lost, just lost its head coach, didn't have their top player available, and not have an SEC home game? It is really just a bunch of LSU stupidity.

How about (1) and easier path to the championship game with one less game than everyone else and/or (2) extra weeks for injured players to heal and be stronger. It is not that difficult to understand how either scenario would benefit the team and that there is also little to no upside to actually playing the game that weekend. What Foley didn't consider was that the game would be necessary to be eligible to play in the SECCG (would be pointed out later) and that would put him in a bad negotiating position. So once he was there, he decided to play the disaster card until Alleva called his bluff. Now he and Stankey are just trying to put their PR spin on it to try to avoid looking like the manipulative bastard/buffoon that they are.

Also, Florida's allowed their female athletes to participate in events that very Saturday, while keeping the men "safe". Isn't that a Title IX violation?

We just had the worst flooding ever in over 100 years. Why should we not have a home game in the 19th?

The storm was never really a threat to Miami or the SW coast of FL. There was a brief period when the eye may have passed over South Palm Beach County but Miami Dade was not in danger. So U of F and Miami could play their home games. UF had to wait until Thu or Fri which meant that it would be too late to know the path of the storm. Plus a bunch of Police agencies said it was unlikely that they could commit police to the game. I am no UF fan but I understand why the game was postponed. When the storm passed without little affect to the Gainesville area, it's easy to arm chair QB but if the storm hit as a class 4, there is no telling how much damage there would have been.

You can't reason with LSU fans. This is exactly what happened.

I see nothing to be embarrassed about with this. Florida made the choice to refuse to play that game. Why should LSU give up a home game because of Florida being a bunch of pussies. I dont blame him for drawing that line in the sand. That was a weekend for a home game and it was going to stay that way. Not his fault Foley is a little bitch.

Respond to my post on page 8. Is anything I said unreasonable? Can you reason with this LSU fan?

To be honest, I think UF is to blame in the mess too.

From the mid week the plan should have been to move the game to Sunday night and then cancel Friday afternoon should the storm follow a worst-case path.

LSU shouldn't have to give up a home game because Florida screwed the pooch.

At some point, you have to make a decision. Clearly, the point was passed and the officials did not know for sure where the storm was headed. I do not organize football games but I imagine a whole heap of planning goes into it... Concessions, referees, etc. You can only keep people and the media on hold for so long.

Dang... Twice in one day sticking up for UF.

But, but but..... What happened after the game with the negotiating between UF and LSU is up for the rest of you to decide. Now, I feel better.

Let's illustrate the decision process a little more:

Jeremy Foley - We expect the game to happen Saturday at Noon in Gainesville.

Jeremy Foley - We expect the game to happen Saturday at Noon in Gainesville.

Jeremy Foley - We expect the game to happen Saturday at Noon in Gainesville.

Jeremy Foley - A sudden shift has us concerned with the safety of holding the game on Saturday at Noon. We have no choice but to postpone the game because it wouldn't be safe to have the athletes travel on short notice. (However, the women's volleyball team will be driving up to Columbia, SC Saturday to play Sunday. )

So due to LSU you are not losing a home game.

2016 Florida at LSU -1
2017 LSU at Florida +1
2018 LSU at Florida (Back to regular schedule)0
