I'm pretty sure catching passes is a part of most RB's role.

But is not a primary role. Would you agree that when discussing a strictly running back award it would make sense to focus on their primary role? If it’s total yards why not look at Jaxson Dart, he has well over a thousand yards more than any RB in total yards and 27 TDs. Why not give him the Doak Walker award? He’s had 99 rushes this season.

That's because the other backs are weak little boys in comparison to Sampson.
