The question is: will flarda wait that long?

That’s the question I have.. Will the powers that be, be patient enough to let him get rid of the wrong players left over from the previous regime, and get the buy in from the new players? At this moment, I see it being a 2-3 years before they are truly competitive.

I mean, it's Florida. You should be able to at least be decent right away. No excuses.

Not necessarily given the fact that his talent pool was limited.

It took Saban, Kirby and Huepel over a year to turn blue blood programs.

Hell, even as good as Kirby was, it took him about 6 years to really start dominating.

At least give Napier one more year to see if he shows flashes of improvement.

I don't know... did something happen at the end of the season?

I mean, look at the rest of the year:
Game 1, good (and big) win over Utah.
1st loss, to Kentucky when the Cats were in the Top 10.

2nd loss, highly competitive loss (38-33) @ Tennessee.
3rd loss, competitive loss (45-35) vs LSU.
4th loss, respectable showing vs #1 UGA (42-20; not close but not stomped either).

After UGA, they whipped A&M 41-24 (one of the few A&M losses that wasn't extremely tight). Then stomped a mudhole in South Carolina 38-6.

At that point, they're 6-4, Vandy on deck, and probably playing the best they'd been all year. Vandy should be an auto-win, then you're amped up to play your rival in a showdown to get to 8-4 (which would have also been Fla State's record if the Gators won). Get a decent bowl, playing to finish ranked, and bring tons of momentum into 2023.

Instead, they face-planted, and their QB walked before the bowl.
Something's wrong there, just my impression.
