Bama has owned LSU not only since 2008, but all time if you look at the numbers. You're just a member of our division. OUR division. You exist because we allow you to exist. OUR SEC. OUR college football. Don't you ever forget that cornpup.

46-41 was not our biggest win of 2019. You were just a bump in the road. Beating Dabo and Clemson who were 29-0 and just a year off of humiliating the tide would be our biggest win.

So far, none of the responses have addressed the issues the op has raised.

I’ve watched LSU up close for decades. And the lack of discipline, the me me me attitude, the general stagnation and churning in practice, weight training etc., didn’t start with O, though he has allowed it to get out of control. No... it started with the recruitment of Perriloux.

Perriloux was perhaps the best athlete ever at LSU but he was poison because he split the team into his “gang” and the outsiders. The River parish recruits followed his lead and began doing whatever they wanted too.. even after he finally left the team.

The culture of lack of focus, was passed on and is now institutiinalized among the players, and accepted by the coaches as a price you have to pay for Louisiana talent in Baton Rouge. There just isn’t a sense that the little things add up or are important. It’s all Xs and Os.,

There are two types of football team discipline... Army type and Gang type. Last year when O did away with practice before the season to protect against injuries just imbedded the gang type at LSU further. There is not an attitude the every little thing adds to success... there IS an attitude that going through the motions. Pretending to train, pretending to practice, pretending to lift, is good enough.

So now you reap the consequences of Perriloux (who Saban didn’t want at LSU for exactly the character reasons discussed). You have Fournette’s doing whatever he wanted, playing when he wanted to, quitting early. You have every player that thinks they can go pro doing it. Why? Because no one believes they will up their draft rating by coming back because the team will always be a work in progress next year... and no one really cares about the team or the school or personal responsibility.

Worst is that the coach doesn’t see this because he is from down here with this mercenary culture, and also has no personal discipline.

LSU will still win games by dent of sheer talent. But 3rd-4th in the west is probably the norm because the rest of the conference has teams with discipline and plans now.

And what is really bad is I’m not sure it can be fixed. Culture is incredibly hard to change...

Did you really type all of this and expect anyone to actually read all that?

Keep your posts to a maximum of 20 words or less

re: reading the thesis - I knew many LSU fans wouldn’t, many more couldn’t, and some sensitive souls shouldn’t... but the thesis is solidly based and a culture is incredibly difficult to change. Reading or not reading will not alter that truth.

and having a good football team won't alter the fact Alabama is nationally known more for inbreds and meth than anything else

Say “Alabama” to a random group of 100 nationally selected people and 50 will respond “college football.”

Say “ Louisiana” to the same group and “Mardi Gras,” “Cajun food,” “political corruption,” “cess pool” will ooze to the top. No one will mention football.

You may be right. That even Ed Orgeron can win a Natty at LSU speaks well of our program.

Thankfully he’s a great recruiter so the cupboard will be full for Woodward to make his pick if it comes to that
