Please, tell me where any of that is wrong. Are you trying to say Ole Miss isn't losing 3 defensive linemen, 3 linebackers and 5 defensive backs from the 2015 roster?
I mean, I've said it multiple times in this thread, but I'm still waiting for any argument other than "nu uh" from an OM fan. It's all any of you have given so far.

Until then....games are decided by which team scores more points than the other. And there's only one stat on each side of the ball that is relevant to that fact.
So a defense should get punished by their offense that turns the ball over and gives the other team short yardage. No one should really be looking at any one stat when judging a defense.

Until games are decided by something other than points.....ill entertain the idea of stats other than scoring D mattering when discussing team stats.

Stating that scoring defense is the only defensive that matters isn't a fact though. Total defense = YAPG.

I don't disagree with that. The drop off in your defense from 14 to 15 was shocking to me.
Conner was definitely our anchor on defense. It all worked around him. But losing golson and prewitt hurt pretty bad.
It's almost liked we switched sides of the ball. Our offense went from decent to the sec's best and our defense was pretty much the opposite.

DBs and my points about replacing production are invalid?
I haven't read much of this thread at all but it's things like this being said that are going to have OM fans piling into this thread.
Interior OL better, exterior worse. Deeper OL- push
QB- better
RB- better
WR/TE- same
All above means our offense will once again be one of the elite if not the best in the conference so focus on D.
DE's- better
DT's- worse (being objective for you even though I think at worse they will be just as productive with Gross coming back)
LB's- better
CB's better
Safeties-worse.
Very similar Offense with very similar defense as to last year. But which team last year will be the question. The team that played the first 4 games were set at D but didn't have Tunsil. Next 3 games had three defensive starters out. Last 4 games the team was on fire. I doubt we will be as good as the last years team that beat okie state but that team was without both Nkemdiches, Fadol, Issac, and Tony Connor, so it's not crazy to assume it will be.

Yes. It absolutely is a fact. Has there ever been a game decided by anything other than points on the board?
Every other offensive and defensive stat is only relevant in how it relates to points. A field goal from 55 yards counts just the same as a field goal from 25 yards.
Every other stat is only complimentary to putting points on the board or keeping them off.

Ya, like that defense that allowed a pick 6 to score or return a fumble for a TD

Cool. So the game was decided based upon points.

And it's posts like yours why we are laughing at you guys.

LB's- better
Lose 3/4 LB's that played meaningful snaps = better.

No one said they weren't but judging a Defense solely on points given up is very foolish. You know better or at least I hope so

Do you know what the definition of fact is?

Our best LB is back in Gates. Connor plays at the LB, he barely played last year and we bring in the leading tackler from OSU and a true MLB. Who did we lose at LB that you think we will miss? Go on, I'm sure you know more about my team than I do.

You had 5 LBs with more than 30 total tackles, and 3 of them were seniors.
Would you like me to list them?

I never said that you couldn't use other stats to judge a defense. Just that scoring defense is the only stat that trumps all of the other stats.
Give up a ton of points = your defense is shite regardless of TFL stats.

Denzel Nkemdiche
C.J. Johnson
Christian Russell
Unless one of them is mislabeled as a senior in 2015, they are all gone.

None had as many as our transfer MLB and none of them are as good as our best LB who emerged last year in Gates. Caldwell is back who was ahead of Christian Russell. So in the two true LB spots we have, we return our best one, and upgrade at the other. And our best player on the defensive side played half the season last year healthy and is back who plays the middle of the field as the 5th DB..hybrid Safety/LB.
Dude, what do I gain by over exaggerating my team?

Not necessarily, a weak offense can really screw the defense.

So you're saying we are going to miss a drug addict 200lb LB, a kid who out of need played LB one year and DE the previous three, and a backup. How can the leading tackler at at Pac 12 school and our best LB live up to those guys
Posted on 3/31/16 at 2:18 pm to Whereisomaha
But but but....the guys that didn't play last year can't count because I can't find their stats!!!!
