I like Col. Reb.

But I'm not too dense to see that he negatively impacted our school. I've got a painting of Col. Reb hanging in my room right above my bed.

Col Reb isn't racist, and liking Col. Reb isn't racist. Many people perceive him as such, though. Perception is reality.

Folks would have you believe that Ole Miss held a KKK rally on campus last year. It's completely untrue, but it doesn't mean we didn't get absolutely roasted for it.

We seemed to do pretty darn well while he was roaming the sidelines and court. Especially in sales.

We've had our three best seasons since 1989 since we removed Col. Reb.

And we have had our best coach roaming the sidelines since 1989 too. While he was there....we became one of the top teams in the SEC to make bowl appearances. We went to the Sweet Sixteen under him, were blessed with players such as Chucky, Duece, Heard, Collins, Espy, Gunn, and the list goes on.

Where was Col. Reb in the 70's and 80's while we sucked dick?

Oh yeah, He was busy scaring off great Black athletes like Steve McNair, Jerry Rice, and Water Payton.

So do you have hidden documents claiming that that is why those athletes didn't attend Ole Miss?

No, but I do think it's interesting that we got shitty shortly after integration.

Why not put George Washington in the school's colors and retain the name REBELS? At least it would have made sense. All this black bear thing does is scream that Ole Miss just surrendered everything they once held dear for acceptance, and acceptance that isn't coming, but you just traded in everything to attain it. THAT'S emptiness. No identity and no idea where the program is even going. I really don't think I ever dreamed the day would come when Ole Miss would cave and so embarassingly.

It is kinda making me sad too. Just had lunch with my boss, and he was telling me that he's been to Ole Miss and the Grove on 3 separate occasions (one of them being the 2003 LSU game). He said the thing he loved most behind it was the tradition we held so dearly and said there isn't really another university like it. I just hope they let sleeping dogs lie now and this will be the last of it, and hell we may get Slow Dixie back if retards would stop saying it at off campus events.

Seeing that all those guys went to SWAC schools says other D1A schools didn't look at them either.

FDWL is our best tradition, and WE ruined it.

Had nothing to do with the administration.

Okay...then don't act like Colonel was the reason we didn't get them. Maybe it was the coaches we had at those times. I mean....we had Kinard, Cooper, Sloan.....i mean c'mon.

I was pretty much flipping out at every game last season with the frickfaces trying to "stick it to the man". Guess what, the man won. And its Texas and Georgia trash that were the ones who were mostly saying it towards the very end, you know the people who really don't care at all if it is removed.

I do think if the students would stop it at off campus events it might make a comeback for a non-nationally televised game just to test the waters if the students could do it without screaming TSWRA. If we keep on not saying it in low key games, then they may put it back on nationally televised games.

Jerry Rice grew up just a few miles South of Starkville at Crawford. He didn't even go to college his first year after high school. He helped his dad who was a brick mason and then went on to MVSU. I don't think he was recruited very highly by anyone.

Look, I'm not going to blame Col. Reb for Ole Miss's failures anymore. There's no way to prove that I'm right, just like there is no way to prove that I'm wrong.

I'm happy that we've moved on, and I look forward to passing both mascots on to my future children. I'm sorry for calling you ignorant. We may disagree on some things, but we're both Rebels. I've got an attractive young lady that needs my attention. Good night, Hotty Toddy!

Sucks that we didn't even sign one of those guys though.

It's a shame that a schools mascot has to be removed, and or replaced over bullshite...

And yes the "Rebels" will be under attack soon, sad deal..

Yep. The coolest thing about Ole Miss. Then a bunch of dumbasses decided to turn it into a racist song about 5 years ago by yelling the south will rise again.

TSWRA is more racist than Colonel Reb and the "Rebels" combined. Before TSWRA, there was a good argument that Colonel Reb was tradition and not racism. Starting a "new" tradition of yelling the south will rise again only confirmed the suspicions of the people who wanted to get rid of the Colonel.

I remember hearing it in the mid 90s when I went to games with my dad.
