Truth is the game and generations have changed. Used to be the entertainment focus was on the band and cheerleaders etc. Now you need more to keep fans engaged because of cultural shifts, technology etc.

With the TV experience and general lack of interest in football compared to previous generations, the university and athletic department are attempting to enhance the overall in-game experience. Combined with Bama's resources gained over the last couple decades you have a completely different stadium/fan experience. Most programs cannot afford this.
