Yes, that's just the way it works. 2012 Georgia's SEC Championship loss allowed a team Georgia defeated to take their spot in a BCS game.

Dude, even if LSU goes into the SECCG undefeated in that scenario and loses to USCe, you beat your booty bammer gets the second spot
Doesn't matter that both team would have 1 loss and that LSU beat bammer, their jerseys don't say "Ala-frickin-bama" on them!
I have heard rumblings that Lord Saban is considering calling off all of the paultry "regular season" games, and just using all of that time from August to December preparing his team for the first round of the playoffs.
