I explained my "strange obsession" with LSU. Now tell us what you are doing in this thread. Thinking of switching teams?

Do you still feel like Ensminger is an elite OC?
I never said he was?

yet all y'all want to talk about is Jimbo Fisher. how you are going to take him away from A&M
I've never said LSU was going to take Jimbo, I think he'd be foolish to leave.
Your interactions within this thread have been very odd...

I never said that you said he was. I asked if you think he was.
quote:Fair enough. Do you have a theory as to why all the LSU fans keep telling A&M that LSU is going to take him away, while also saying he is bad?

No more odd than this thread is. I mean, do you really care what generic fans on this board think about A&M's coach? I mean....really? Or are you just wanting to troll? Because, to be perfectly candid, I haven't though once about Jimbo Fisher or whether or not people from other fan bases think he is an elite offensive mind. He just seems to be on LSU fans minds a lot.

Actually, you asked if I "still thought he was an elite offensive coordinator" which insinuates that I thought he was at one point, which I didn't.
Also, still not sure what Ensminger has to do with this topic.

Some LSU fans actually want Jimbo, some don't, some are just using it as a means to troll Aggies.

Ah. My bad. I misspoke. Do you think he was really calling the plays for LSU in 2019, or do you think Brady was actually doing that?
quote:Oh. I just didn't want to start another complete thread, then be accused of doing a respnse thread. I'm really interested, and there aren't a lot of responses to your thread, so it's not like I am derailing some in depth discussion here. But...if you don't care to discuss, that's ok. I am about to go into the other room to watch TV with the wife anyway.
Also, still not sure what Ensminger has to do with this topic.
quote:Yeah. That's what I figured. Are you one of them with this thread? or are you genuinely interested in peoples opinions about Jimbo Fisher?

He's done that to me too. "Is Mullen still a much better HC than Smart?!"
"Uh I never said he was..."
"Yes you did!"

I assume it was just like everyone said. Ensminger handled most of the first and second downs while Brady handled most of the third downs and red zone calls.
No reason for me to believe otherwise.

Mostly just a response thread to myself.
I started a thread during the offseason about how the game had passed Jimbo up offensively and there were some who argued he was still a top tier offensive mind.
Just curious if anyone still feels that way.

Since you know LSU much better than me....it was kind of my impression that LSU threw the ball a lot on first and second down, too. I guess what I have a hard time wrapping my head around is how they work this out. (Not necessarily doubting you or other LSU fans, because i heard there is a team out there this year with a similar arrangement. Can't remember who it was) I mean, how do you put any kind of offensive plan together when you have guys with different ideas on what plays to call when taking over in the middle of a series. That blows my mind.
quote:Ah! That was you? I remember, and if it is the one i am thinking of I tend to agree with you. I think with the right players he can still be successful, but he will definitely need a great defense to carry it off. Offenses and defenses change so fast and morph it is hard to sit tight with one philosophy for more than 3-4 years.

Alright. I've derailed you long enough. Time to go watch tv with the wife.
I honestly started this off to troll you, but as we went it hit me that we might actually get a good conversation out of this. And we had a good conversation.

Jimbo is supposed to be an offensive/QB guru. No mulligan for a backup QB. He recruited him. Coach him up. Fisher is only making more than $7.5 million a year at this point.

They didn't really have different ideas, Ensminger was a throw first guy too. He definitely wasn't some great offensive mind though. I don't really know that Joe Brady is some revolutionary either.
That team was great because of the players, not because of some innovative offensive scheme.
