Does anyone else think it's ironic that....

despite the "weak west" stuff in the nineties and the "weak east" stuff in the from the 2010's until the division demise, that if A&M makes the conference championship they will have played the weakest schedule of perhaps anyone who ever made the SECCG.
This isn't me saying A&M is not good, but just more of how we think we fix things, but you really can't. Things never go as expected.

My guess would be 2010 SCar. The East was really, really bad that year.
I take that back, Gamecocks at least played Auburn/Bama/Arky in 2010.

I’ll say this.
Many, many Aggies expected this to be a rebuilding year. So did the rest of the country. O/U for season wins was 7.5. The Rant official prediction thread had most Aggies having us 8-4 or 7-5 (me included). So, yes, the schedule has been relatively weak. It doesn’t matter that teams that were supposed to be good have played like crap. But I’m still happy about it because it gives Elko more time to get the program fully aligned with what he wants to do while still allowing us to have a ridiculously fun season.
Next year will be a lot tougher, but the team will also be better. As for now, though, we’re enjoying the coaster that our weak schedule has provided, and it’s the best coaster I’ve been on since I started paying attention to football.

that isn't irony, but it's a good point that needs to be shared. It really is almost impossible for ATM to have lucked out as much as they have with their schedule. At present their SEC opponents to date place

in the standings. It is almost incomprehensible to get that lucky.

No shame, man. You play the schedule in front of you. For the most part, you played it well even if it wasn't a great schedule. You'll get your opportunity to prove it wasn't the schedule that put you where you are at.

I think what gets mixed up is when people say things like, "A&M played the weakest conference schedule" it's not as if they're implying A&M did it on purpose. A&M had no control over their conference schedule, that's just how it is.
It's more of a statement for A&M to temper expectations; it's not like you went undefeated after playing Georgia, Oklahoma, Alabama, Ole Miss, and Tennessee.
You could still end up beating Texas and then Alabama or Georgia in the SEC CG, which - while not an entire month of ranked teams - would be enough to justify that it wasn't ONLY because you played the lower half of the conference.

Your post has good points. I will say that most reasonable Aggies do have tempered expectations. I don’t expect anything beyond us not getting crushed by Texas. Everything after that is a total mystery.
