When I attended LSU in the late sixties we had Ole Miss week that included panty raids and the burning of garbage cans.
Arkansas used to have Texas Week that was like this. I started at Arkansas in 1996 so those days were long gone by then, but I remember the Texas games when I was a kid, and coming to campus and seeing banners and signs everywhere. There used to be quite a few spontaneous bonfires at Dickson Street and Arkansas Avenue, the historic SE corner of campus. Open kegs on the hills of frat row were the norm.
Nothing is like that at Arkansas anymore, and probably not at any college campuses for anything, as most colleges have tried to crack down on that kind of raucous behavior and open debauchery.
Texas was our rival. We hated those sonsofbitches. We still do to a degree, but it fades with every year.
Even so, take a poll of 100 Arkansas fans, and you'd be lucky to find 20 who would consider a Big XII move.
I would even consider it, but it would require an entirely different Big XII than currently exists.
Just as was the case in the SWC, Texas has used their money and power and giant fanbase to take control of the Big XII. There's no way in hell I want any part of that. You think SEC refs were screwy this year, try being the only non-Texas team in a conference before there was instant replay.

Here's a video that sums up the Arkansas feelings about Texas.
This was taken in 1992, our last go around in the SWC at the conference basketball tourney.
The band worked up a little mockery of the beginning of "Texas Fight", throw in a little "Eyes of Texas" and then a little George Straight, and here's a big
to Texas, A&M, the rest of the bastard Texas-based teams, and their soon-to-be-destroyed private little conference.
LINK
For reference, Emilio, you'd have been 2 or 3 when this happened.
Also, the actual words are "Texas is a place we really HATE TO BE!"

Now stuff like this does make me nostalgic.
The video is crap, but its 20 years old. Watch this video, particularly about the 1:00 mark if you want to see how one team OWNS a conference tournament. The reason we referred to Reunion Arena in Dallas as "Barnhill South" is because it was always about 90% Arkansas fans, and we usually just kicked the shite out the SWC teams.

THOSE were the good old days, given how things are now. We weren't just another team, we were almost always 1st or 2nd in football (even though we couldn't beat Texas to save our life, even in their down years) and we were THE power in basketball. It would be nice to have conference championships 5 hrs from campus instead of 13.
There's still no way we'd go back to that if it were offered.
