My take on this is that while you can include all the sports with the points earned, only count the top 16 (8 men and 8 women) for the championship. In other words, I think they count 20 now (10 each M/W sports total).

Some of your schools only have 16 teams and that would make it fairer. You could utilize the points earned from your top 16 of your teams. But that would level the playing field a little bit.

Same as golf having 5 players on a team and you get to use the top 4 scores for your team total.

As was mentioned some of your smaller schools do not have synchronized swimming, under water basket weaving, croquet etc. in their repertoire of sports that they offer. :)

That is the Capital One Cup
The Directors Cup has the same sports every year.
Problem is that a few of the sports Lacrosse, Men's Volleyball and Beach Volleyball are not played by the SEC
