Didn't that Utah WR do the same thing that TM7 did in 2011?

I forgot which Georgia Dome game it was, whether it be the ducks or Georgia, that Tyrann Mathieu had a kick return or something. He went all the way to the house but flipped it out of his hands right at the goal line.

Am I remembering correctly? That's the first thing that came to mind when I first saw it. Of course it wasn't called and was ultimately a touchdown.

It was Mathieu or whatever on a punt return in the 2011 SEC Championship game.

Mathieu got away with it because the refs never noticed and no UGA player ever picked up the ball. Nobody even noticed till halftime I'm pretty sure.

Players do that shite once or twice a year, it's happened dozens of times, you think they'd know better by now, but nope.

SEC CG against UGA on punt return. Hard to see on this video but he flipped it to the side judge as he crossed the goal line

I don't see the point in calling those. Yeah, I do like the rules being enforced, so technically he should have been...geez, what would be the result of the official catching the ball, anyway?...but there was nobody nearby and he clearly had the TD in hand. It's sort of like the mercy rule of crossing the line there.
