I've never understood the moronic logic that because a third party nobody former moo st player requested funds from an former moo st qb to go to a shithole like Moo St, that must means Auburn paid him too.

So, you're "logic" is that a couple of former players who otherwise are not involved in the program, got together and decided to offer Cecil Newton $180,000. Then, when the Newtons turned the offer down, State decided to report the matter to the SEC, and just claim that Cecil asked for the money and hope that no one discovered the truth? Yeah, that's logical.
Then they got lucky, and Cecil just decided to admit that State was telling the truth, even though they weren't.
Oh, and I guess somewhere along the line they decided to have Kenny Rogers leave a message on Bell's answering machine saying that Cam Newton wanted $180,000, just to cover their tracks?

Ignoring the trite and stale name calling, the reason people come to those conclusions is because the former MSU player was working for the Newtons, not for MSU. The Newtons hired him and he was working on their behalf.
Now, if someone wants to be Pollyana enough to believe that he only shopped Cam to 1 school then so be it.
