People here aren’t defending Sankey, people are defending the SEC. Sankey is not the SEC, he is the mouthpiece and a proxy for the league. The 15 other member schools are actually the SEC. But it is simpler and easier to say Sankey or SEC than list out every member of the SEC.

Sankey is the Roger Goodell of the SEC. He does not make the rules, the members of the conference do. The rule prohibiting athletes who have signed a pro contract was approved by all 16 members, even LSU. Most LSU fans here seem to be unable to understand the situation.

LSU did not declare war on Greg Sankey. LSU declared war on Auburn, Arkansas, Florida, Missouri, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, Kentucky, Missouri, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Texas and their own school president.

If Lane Kiffin includes any of the three former NFL players on the official roster today he is defying not just the other 15 SEC members, he is defying his own school president who voted to prohibit former NFL players.

Good luck LSU, it is going to be a long, hard winter.
