Should have gotten Chase Daniel. He would have gotten Texas a Championship or two. Missouri did not have what Texas had on their rosters. Missouri got by with Chase Daniel and was never hurt like Colt was. The point was Chase would have been the better quarterback because of his IQ and he was so good in high school. His height was what put him at second tier. Drew Brees ring a bell?

Mack Brown got really lazy in recruiting in his last few years. He would fill up the class on junior day with "guys who wanted to be there." Many of the best players in Texas did not commit early, and so Texas missed out on them.

He relied on Bobby Burton artificially inflating the rankings of players who were leaning to them or committed to them.

From 2000-2009, they had a record of 110-19 (tied with Oklahoma as the winningest program of the decade). They also had the highest winning percentage (.853) of any P5 FBS school in the 00s.

Since 2010, their record stands at 53-48.

The same thing will probably happen to Bama. You're having your good run the same as Texas. It's cyclical, and Bama will go back to being like the rest of us.
Enjoy your current run.

Texas would rather maintain their pride than do what is neccesary to win.

Bama had to lose its pride under Fran, Price and Shula and restablish control from our old boy booster network before we were ready to compete nationally.

You can argue we are prideful again but I think it’s at a reasonable level given recent success. Whether that continues post Saban and the quality of his replacement will determine whether we continue to win at a an elite level.

No way Bama will continue to continue to win at this current level I think. Close? Maybe.

Saban has been phenominal.

That kind of demonstrates their focus. Texas became focused on looking good, rather than winning. They backed their way into both national championship games based on appearances.

Why can't Auburn ever reach that level?....you know, the level Alabama (and some other schools) has reached multiple times...got a reason for that?

Not true, Bama is more than cyclical.. one of the very few that can claim such rare air.

Add in tOSU & OU, everybody else has disappeared for a decade or more a few times.

Mrs. Duncadick, care to explain this display of effeminate sectarian thought?

Started with not getting RG3. Or JFF. Or even calling Jameis back.

Then it continued with taking Swoopes over Barrett. By then the program was broken and all the good QBs wanted to go to Aggie or Baylor

It goes beyond that. Since Vince Young left, they've whiffed hard on the following quarterbacks from the state of Texas:

Matthew Stafford, Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin, Johnny Manziel, J.T. Barrett, Jarrett Stidham

So THAT'S what's happening with their law school, not admission fraud?

Not to mention Bama has won a natty with two different Texas QB's & Cam spent one season down there breaking all the state JV ball records.
