All players get free legit money from the schools. In addition to that, if they are poor they still qualify for grants and other financial aid.
This on top of their food, clothing and housing all being paid for. They also get other free money as well for legit reasons. Those with families get money for off campus housing. If they need to go home for a holiday, they can get money for that.
And if they really want, they could also get some student loans.
The "poor college athlete" is a myth.
Then why do you think payments occur in basketball?

High and Mighty Coach Cotton did you no favors with his “come at me bro” approach to everyone who asked questions. Then deflecting to Houston Nutt was the moment that got him a 1 way ticket to Liberty Univeristy.

You should probably read this. This guy went to Ole Miss and is a national writer who got quotes from actual bag men.
I've read it before. It's not hard to understand how such things can be done. And we all know Ole Miss was just doing it.
What I asked you for was how much the current salary cap is. You said one existed, but how much is it?

Teams are smaller. You get way more bang for your buck.
I still hope every one of them is caught.

But, to use your logic of why don't all players goto the school that pays the most, how come Will Wade didn't get Zion Williamson, Cam Reddish and RJ Barrett? He's supposedly paying big money and has only attracted three 5 star players in 3 years. Duke got 3 top 10 players in one class.

How did this thread turn into LSU vs Bama?

The logic bend is strange to me as well, but there it is...

Because Will Waste is a terrible coach, bad look.
j/k
Why didn't Ole Miss grab more players from bigger schools?
There is more to it than money. Schools have way more to offer than just money. When I see all this money put into the programs, the lockers, the recruiting, etc. It seems to me it's a sign that programs are starting to recognize they are better off putting their money there.
Do you think Tulane could buy a 5 star player? And I'm not talking about just the sum of money, but rather what else do they have to offer?
You can buy a kid a gaming system - not legal, or you can buy the entire team a crazy arse entertainment area that is way beyond what any kid would ever have - legal.
How did Ole Miss get caught?
And do you think the kids that actually went for there money have shown good decision making skills?

What we all know is that everyone who gets good players does it. The article you just brushed off proves that. Maybe you should read it again.
As for your other question, You’d have to ask a bag man that question. I ain’t it. Common sense tells you they broke the unspoken rules. No other reason for the blue bloods to turn them in, unless you actually believe the garbage about everyone not being paid. I guess I could ask my good friend who runs the central MS slush fund for OM recruiting what their rate is but I doubt he would tell me such specifics, considering we are on opposite aisles of rooting interests.

This is the entire argumebt that has been made to you in this entire thread as rebuttal to all of your posts.

You showed me an old article about a bunch of Ole Miss boosters, who are the ones who got caught.
It's not a question of can you do it, or even how you can do it and get away with it. It's not that difficult to understand that it can be done.
You were the one who claimed Ole Miss outbid everyone else and went beyond a secret salary cap and that was the reason people were pissed at them. I just asked how much the salary cap was.

And it's funny because all the things other than money that schools have to offer is my entire reason for saying the top schools recruit as well as they do.

The article isn’t about a bunch of ole miss boosters.....read it again bro. It’s about boosters throughout the SEC. it’s not about Ole Miss.

Yes of course. It doesn't name them as I recall, just makes the claim.
Because boosters/bagmen from around the SEC are all just really itching to talk to this 1 reporter. They just all magically up and called him, and/or other boosters/bagmen gave them all up and said - hey I thought you might be the kind of person who would like to talk to a reporter and expose what you do.
No way it's not just some shite his buddies told him that he probably went to school with and/or had connections with that were also bagmen. But when you print the article, you just say "SEC bagmen", which is 100% still true and provides a bit of the grey area you are trying to highlight now.
In my experience, snitches don't talk to the police and/or media until after they've been caught themselves.

bullshite. You said if they were all paying, why wouldn't a player just goto the highest bidder. That's been your stance the whole thread and that Bama isn't paying. Get outta here with this.

I'm calling bs. What bag man worth his salt would agree to this ?

Even when I asked for and received proof — in this case, a phone call I watched him make to a number I independently verified, then a meeting in which I witnessed cash handed to an active SEC football player — it’s just cash changing hands.

Weird, here are some of my early posts in this thread.
quote:
Considering it's their best chance at making the NFL by far, it's not hard to understand why kids go to the major schools - without cheating.
A 5 star is twice as likely to get drafted in the 1st round by going to Alabama than they are any other school.
That results in millions of dollars for those kids later down the road.
And if Alabama is cheating, I hope they get caught.
quote:
National Championships with a clear history of success above and beyond every other school in college football for putting kids into the NFL. That being in large part a result of superior coach and training.
Are you telling me if you are a 5 star talent with a future in the NFL you are going to consider going to schools that have worse coaches, worse training, worse records for putting people into the NFL? Going to blow your future at Tulane? I doubt it.

So you think a national reporter just made the shite up? I mean I get not trusting the media and I don’t even like Godfrey but damn man, take your tin foil hat off.....the guys all got anonymity. He didn’t put anyone on front street.
