They're mostly in closely contested battleground states with Democratic governors for whom the decision to play football will mean an admission that Trump was right on that topic.

And that's true. Which is exactly why Kevin Warren pushed so hard on an entire conference into cutting it's own budgets. That's why we're at this point. The man used to love to give an interview about how he was going to swing an election.

I was not in the room, of course. But I bet he came at those presidents hard and fast - and that's all it took to make them fold. He probably threw some shite out there about being first to the decision.

Then the SEC was a solid "No - we'll play". That's all the ACC needed to hear. Then those two conferences were all the Big 12 needed to hear.

But I remember how this went down. Kevin Warren thought he could play "Domino Theory" and shut down Division I football. He had the PAC 12 in his pocket, he knew the Big 10 was waffling, and he was sure the ACC would shut down if everybody else did.

He just didn't figure on the SEC saying "No, we'll play". Even though, if you'll wind the tape back, you'll see all the sports media - including ESPN the loudest - running op-ed after op-ed about how the NCAA issued guidance to not play ... and also crying like a rat eating onions about how football needs a commissioner to get a handle on these conferences.

The hell they won't. Remember...a spot taken by Ohio State means someone else from one of those conferences gets left out.

The CFP has already set the dates for the release of the rankings on Dec. 20, the semifinals on Jan. 1, and the championship on Jan. 11. The CFP will tell a partial B1G group to pound sand before they change those dates again.

Oh I agree the Big 10 playing makes it less likely 2 SEC teams get in. But with the Big 12 going 0-3 against the Fun Belt, the Conference Champ of the Big 12 might need to be undefeated. A 1 loss SEC non Conference Champion vs. a 1 loss Big 12 Champion, hmmmm, given 10 game SEC schedule, case can be made for that 1 loss team getting in. So hypothetically, if that is a 1 loss LSU or 1 loss Bama team, only loss is vs the other one, I am going to say now and say those teams could and perhaps should get in over a 1 loss Big 12 league champ. I think an undefeated Big 12 OU or Texas, then not going to happen.

The main thing is the dates. Rescheduling not one but three major events in three different venues in three cities isn't something that can happen so quickly or easily. Remember...one of them is the Rose Bowl. There are other events happening at the same time around the game. The dates are likely cast in stone, and if the B1G is going to be included in the discussion, they are going to have to have a meaningful season completed in time. The onus is on them to conform.

I've heard it's now the ability to do rapid testing. At least that will be their reason.

frick them it’s too late to try to save face, the damage is done to their image...it was pure political bs on their part and it bit them on the arse hard...

Nothing has changed from all the excuses they gave as to why they couldn’t play...

I’m sure their bitch the PAC will follow them...
