Theres just too much Bama in them for them to admit that. You notice that it went silent on the Bama argument once I told the Bama fans would be in the playoffs.

Delaney probably had 42-10 in mind (has absolutely nothing to do with UGA)
I hope Slive pushes his own agenda. The SEC currently holds all the cards. If there is an impasse keep the status quo then. The conference will do fine either way. The main thing is make no concessions whatsoever to B1G/B12/PAC12...no reason to.

He's talking about his sig quote at the bottom of his posts.
quote:
OH Lil Nicky How quickly Things Change..Anyone who doesn't win their conference champ has no business playing in the national championship game." -Nick Saban (2003)

gotcha. I don't think Coach Saban said that. I know for a fact some LSU players said that before 2003 BCS CG. The club, as a whole, had little to no respect for Sooners. It was kind of surprising.

And just in case it's asked for, here is one of the first Google search results and from a Oklahoma reporter too

But that is definitely the case with an apparent Nick Saban quote making the rounds on the social media site. The quote is supposed to be from 2003 when Saban was the coach at LSU and a brouhaha was boiling around who should play in the national championship game. (Like there’s ever been any of squabbling about that!) LSU, Oklahoma and USC all ended up with one loss, but the Tigers ended up playing the Sooners for the title even though Kansas State beat OU in the Big 12 title game.
Saban is quoted as saying, “Anyone who doesn’t win their conference has no business playing in the national championship game.”
It’s a juicy quote now since Saban is at Alabama and the Crimson Tide didn’t win their division much less their conference, and yet, it finds itself with an inside track to the national championship game.
Oh, the drama.
Thing is, Saban didn’t say it.
quote:LINK
Several of us here at headquarters went looking for evidence of the quote. We used Nexis.com, a powerful and wide-reaching search engine that has hundreds of newspapers and other media sources in its archives. We used Google and just about any other search engine we could think of online. We used our own archives since we were intently focused on Saban and the Tigers in 2003 as an opponent of the Sooners.
Nada.
The closest that we came was something Saban said about Alabama and OU, both of whom played in conference championship games.
“We’re the only two (contending) teams in the country that had to play a 13th game,” he said. “We had to do a little bit more to earn the right.”

I doubt Saban said that and would only believe it if I was linked to a video so I can see those words coming out of his mouth.
Saban is too smart, too type A to flap his gums

Right. The LSU players I'm referencing may have spoken on local TV...I don't remember. But a few said basically that OU didn't belong, probably being hammered in their CCG didn't help. Like I said, Saban, as a HC, I don't think would say that, even if he thought it.

I personally don't know any LSU fans who actually believe that. It sounds like flame/troll/homer (whatever one would call it) type posts....Common enough in blogosphere.

well Ohio State(wait I mean THE Ohio State) would never be worthy
I like the idea of conference champs in the top 6 getting in, but no one on here will try and say UGA was better than Bama last year

Reading the article, the 'I have no regard for that team' can only mean Bama. No other divisional runnerup has ever played in BCS CG I think. That's an amazing slam. I'm becoming more convinced that Delaney in the most 'full of it' commissioner out there. He shoots down Slive/Swofford 4 years ago, now he's wanting to set the agenda. I can't believe he is taken seriously.

I more got a kick out of the Pac 12 fans on ESPN that tried to say the SEC was the reason there wasn't a playoff already. Can't correct stupidity.
I think I remember reading a quote sometime that said don't argue with stupidity, they will win every time due to experience

What's unbelievable is that when corrected....it doesn't matter. Well, anyway, it appears that July 4 is the date for 11 conferences and ND to have recommendations back for the presidential committee to consider and vote on. Should have a definitive playoff format by end of summer most likely.

Swofford was it I think. B12/B10/PAC10 were on record against it.
