Those high school OL, many of them, play in spread or air raid schemes, and don't spend a lot of time on run blocking.
You can be a five star guard coming out of HS, and never had to pull in your life.

they ran I formation and the defense looked completely lost

I think Saban yrs ago said something to the effect of "One day a team is going to come out running the Triple Option and noone will be able to stop it because all the coaches who coached against it will be dead"

Do you re-imagine the i-formation and go under center? Make what was old new again?

Interesting thought.

The name of the game is check downs and YAC receivers.

Drew Brees would eat right now if he was 6 years younger. Saints made their money on pulling safeties in to protect against the short yard game. Reggie Bush, Pierre Thomas, Darren Sproles, Alvin Kamara were all made because of that type of offensive system. And they also perform much better when there is more of a power style back to accompany them. How I will miss those days of the Saints.

The Ole Miss tard acting like they didnt squeak out 24 points and still barely beat the worst offense in the power five, save for Florida.

I remember in 2016 Baker Mayfield and OU went to Lubbock and beat Pateick Mahomes 66 - 59. They combined for 1708 yards of offense. 1278 passing yards most ever in a college football game. Baker had 7 touchdowns. He had to score on every drive because defense was non existent. Baker also almost hung half a hundred on Georgia in a playoff game

Imagine the 6 NFL QBs who played at OU if they had this defense. The narrative would be different and titles would be different too

Interesting football (only) discussion Thank you! Along with the offenses mentioned, there was also the old Houston veer. I’m not sure but isn’t one of the service academies still running the wishbone? I don’t think we will ever see the triple option a regular play of the offense ever again. An $18,000,000 NIL QB becoming a legitimate target instead of a protected player and getting smacked by a linebacker every play probably isn’t going to be popular.
I think NIL has had a negative effect on offensive line play. It takes years for a line to develop to play as a unit. Last year’s Texas had all seniors and JRs on the line. I don’t think any of this years OLline were 2024 starters in multiple games. Ohio State used NIL to add depth to a highly experienced OL. As did the 2024 ND team. The teams that have experienced OL lines are doing the best…and mediocre quarterbacks look better than they actually are.

Did not understand the thing where you were talking about defenses and offenses. Can you reword it all?
