There's no doubt that Kirby learned from Saban. But apparently, Kirby is the only one who did learn from Saban. All the other former Saban assistants have been failures.

Keep telling yourself that. Kirby was the genius behind Saban. That 2017 NC win came on a controversial one in a million play after Bama was pushed around most of the game. Btw. This was Kirby’s second year at UGA. A NC appearance in his second year. Didn’t take him long to show what he was capable of doing.
The 2020 Bama NC win was the Covid year. Fewer games played made for an easier road to the NC. Saban is past his prime and the loss of Kirby is really showing. Last season was not good and they should have lost even more games
than they did. Team didn’t look motivated or confident and GrandPaw Saban looked grumpy and frustrated. Bama fans are nervous and fearful now. They know things aren’t the same at Bama. And it’s not gonna get much better. They will probably still win the West but that’s it. I doubt they will even be in the conversation for the playoffs
I heard that Kirby Paul Smart was born in Alabama and named for Paul Bryant. Is that true ?

Wait. What?! Tell me more about the worst idea of all time

Kirby may have learned from Saban but he took that knowledge and elevated it to a new level. Kirby is THE man now and GrandPaw is reduced to walking the sidelines with his hands tucked under his armpits, looking grumpier than hell. Of course this is when he is not busy talking to ducks or giving coeds unsolicited advise on their wardrobe.

Not sure about the name but I think he was born in Alabama. He grew up in Bainbridge, Georgia.
