I was really surprised by it, not completely convinced but reading between the lines with how he’d pick out young men and kind of groom them certainly makes it seem that way.

Lmao.... I hated reading it as a kid.
When services ended I would be asked by my grandpa what I learned. And of course I didn’t understand what was said so I always got scorned.

Didn't grow up with it but always liked the way it sounds.

Damn man, that’s messed up.
This makes me think of what Jesus said regarding the subject:
But if you cause one of these little ones who trusts in me to fall into sin, it would be better for you to have a large millstone tied around your neck and be drowned in the depths of the sea.

I hated it so much. I had no clue what was being said. To me it sounded like Yoda from Star Wars talking. “Good to your neighbor you shall be.”

I actually enjoy the KJV only crowd. The 1611 or nothing. And then I point out the version they are using is a revision from 1769.

Who uses KJV? Is it big with Baptists?

The good thing about kjv is the words used in it often have much closer meaning to the words originally written. The more the word gets translated, the easier it is for the words to lose their meaning.

I am an Independent Baptist. Very few of them use anything but the KJV. They are pretty adamant about it. When I am at church I use it. For my own devotions I use the NKJV.

Right now I use the One Year Chronological Bible NKJV, and also have a Study Bible I use on occasion.

What version do the Jehovah’s witnesses use? Several elderly black gentlewomen have notified me that if I don’t use that one I’m going to hell. Need to be on the safe side with this.

I have a kjv by my bed constantly.
But my go to Bible for understanding my current situation and how I can better serve God is my English standard version study Bible.

I’ve never used the nkjv, how does it differ from the kjv?
Posted on 12/16/18 at 8:35 pm to KSGamecock
Haha, did they really tell you that you were going to hell if you didn’t use their version of the Bible?

Well it wasn’t just that, it was a lot of things but I kinda tuned them out. The JWs that used to visit this one neighborhood I lived in near Atlanta were weirdly vicious, haven’t encountered many like that.

With the way you act, I would have never known you were a Christian.

It's much easier to read and understand with the modern English language. KJV and the NKJV is still the most accurate translation
