If by last conference championship, the edge would go to Southern in 2025 vs 2019 for LSU.
If by NCAA tournament appearances LSU 2022 vs Southern 2016.
Preseason expectations would break the tie with the edge to Southern.
Why hasn't LSU played Southern since 2010?
Seems to be a common theme of LSU refusing to play equal in-state schools, such as Tulane in football.

Wade didn't want to play Southern because it hurt our SoS. Mcmahon doesn't want to play Southern because their RPI is too high.
