if this had been any other SEC team the narrative here would be "That's SEC football. Man up pussies"...but when it's texas they all turn into whiny 13 year old girls. It's fascinating.

Actions after the catch prove you're wrong, but please keep going.
Initial contact by the defender was made prior to the receiver having control of the ball. It was only a catch after the receiver miraculously gained full control of the ball on the way to the ground after the helmet to helmet contact.
In most cases, when a receiver turns his head prior to having full control of the ball, and gets hit, he loses the ball. In this case, he held on. That's not the norm. Because he ended up with the ball at the end of the play doesn't mean he actually had the ball at the moment of first contact (helmet to helmet) of the tackle.
He did not have possession of the ball when the crown of the defender's helmet struck his head.

I provided the rule, so it’s legit.
How could he protect himself when he was instantly hit in the head?

No it wasn't. He caught the ball and then turned their head...How you're taught to do.

Don't try to bring logic into this.
I'm honestly shocked that call went Texas way for once...Leaving the Big 12 is already paying dividends. A Big 12 crew would have made sure Texas lost and got no make up calls for any of their screwups.

Turning up field and taking a forward step confirms that he was a ball carrier.

Read the defenseless rule.

Was a good call and a solid tackle

Again, I went to both schools. I preferred Texas to win, but I didn't really care. I also had no issue with that not being called targeting because.... it wasn't targeting.

“ or one who has completed a catch and has not had time to protect himself”
And this catch wasn’t even completed because I’d he drops it, it’s an incompletion, and not a fumble.

If you have time to turn, you have time to defend yourself

That has absolutely nothing to do with the catch being completed. He caught the ball and turned up field and took a step. Therefor he is a runner and no longer a defenseless receiver.

He didn’t have time to defend himself as he was hit immediately after the turn. Same exact idea applies to blindside blocks.
