If this has already been mentioned then I'm sorry, but I refuse to read 8 pages of a cowboy boot thread.
I'm not against cowboy boots I wear wellington boots for work and such, however what I don't get about cb boots is all the detail that goes into the top part of boot. I mean the only way you see that while wearing them is tucking your pants into the boot and that is just a crime.

Just because it isn't seen, doesn't mean it needs to be blank...

I know, I know. But the majority of the craftmanship and cost is mostly put into something nobody sees when you where them. Like I said just my personal opinion.

I think the majority of the cost is material. Design and stitching and crap I don't think is the majority of the cost... I might be wrong, but the design/random stitching I think is like less than an hour of hand crafted labor or some machine. I don't think that is the majority cost. Then again I really have no idea. I just know that exotic skins have a WAY high jump in cost than I ever see from eccentric designs. Iunno. I mean I was just earlier in this thread explaining how I wear boots on business back east to make myself not feel similar to huge giant douches that wear hand made italian leather homo shoes, so I understand your sentiment. I just really think boots are awesome. Wearing some now.

It's a luxury/excessive materialism thing. You can see part of the barrel when seated.
For those who are just not sure, go try on a pair of Lucchase boots. Just try them. You don't have to buy or even think about buying. Just try them and see what the fuss is about.

I think I have about 10 pair of boots. Anderson Bean are my personal preference. Redwing for work boots.. This does not include my hunting boots or hiking boots.
Nothing fashionable about it for most of us. Boots are just part of the way of life around here. It is especially that way for the kids that grew up outside the metro areas.

Boots I posted earlier in this thread are AB. First time for me, and I must say, I like 'em a lot.

Agree with this. It was a little harder for me being a military brat and moving around a lot growing up, but my Dad and all his family were from Bryan/College Station area and wore boots and cowboy hats regularly. Wasn't a fashion statement, just normal.
Of course, it made me stand out a little more whenever we moved away from the South. Black kid who would rather wear his boots than chase the latest Jordans that were out, but it was what it was

Black guys pull off the "cowboy" look soooo much better than many believe. Like I said, don't knock it till you try.

I work on an army post. A lot of the black guys I work with wear hats and ropers. Most of them are from SW Arkansas and love to trail ride and a few even break horses on the side.
I too usually wear roper boots instead of the higher heel.
