Well the cap1 bowl does pick before the cotton bowl.

Not that I really matters. The bowls are comparable. Looking at the resumes as a whole is more interesting

When you have to bend that much to find a position that supports an argument against conventionally accepted norms, (1.Mizzou 7-1 2.South Carolina 6-2) you start to look desperate and foolish.

I don't mind if that's the way they want to look. That is on them.

No USC was one spot higher in both the ap and coaches poll at 8.

not that it matters but Bama would be favored against Mizzou or USC. If you take the entire season, Bama is #2, IMHO

I'm not sure they would be favored after the Sugar Bowl. But I think you can make a strong argument for Alabama as the 2nd best SEC team. Much better than for USCe

No, you wouldn't, at least not from me. In that situation I would say you had the better team as you had a comparable schedule and beat us on the field. Claiming otherwise is idiotic. It's the same argument we have heard, and are currently hearing from Clemson fans. We beat them on the field, but because they went to and won a BCS bowl or played for or won their conference they feel they are the superior team. Does that make sense to you as well?

Going to be really interesting to revisit this thread on Tuesday when the final AP and Coaches polls come out. Unbiased opinions from pollsters from across the country who take the whole season into consideration should give us the answer!

Like when OU was a 17 point dog? Those kind of opinions?

You really don't have to bend anything that hard to understand an argument for USC at 2 unless you're sticking your head in the sand (you are)

USC has better wins. USC won head to head.
On the other hand:
Mizzou has better losses. Mizzou win the division

Pretty much all it boils down to. If you can't understand how those are comparable then I can't help you

We sound like UGA and Florida fans the last couple years.

The SEC East isnt "down" just different teams leading the way.

good times.

You mean except the loses are to common opponents and your wins ( "clemson and UCF" ) are not?

Spin away man. Do what you gotta do to find relevance.

No. Because bowls are beauty pageants. If it's not the BCSCG, it's not really that important whether it's a BCS bowl or not. And it certainly doesn't matter if it's the Outback, Cap 1 or Cotton.
Heck, the Chick Fil A bowl had a higher initial payout than the Cotton bowl. I don't think anyone would say it's a better bowl than the Cotton Bowl.

Let's go with this compromise and end this.

SEC East Champs: Mizzou

SEC East Stat Champs: Scar

Fair point. I'm not spinning anything though by saying we have 3 victories against the top 15

Likely in the top 5. Almost certainly in the top 6.

But it's the exact same logic you're using to justify your superiority. Because you beat the teams we lost to it ignores the fact that we beat you and had better wins, even though the Georgia team we faced was not the same Georgia team you faced and you played UT at home while we played them on the road. You also ignore the fact that our OOC schedule was dramatically better than yours (the worst of ours was between a 7-6 bowl winner in UNC and a 12-3 Coastal who were knocked out of the FCS playoffs by the eventual champions, the best of yours was a 7-5 Arkansas State who is currently losing its bowl...). If that equals a tougher cross divisional opponent for you guys is up for debate, I guess (if two games is superior to four...). If you take all that into consideration and consider it a wash then you are left with head to head... which we won.

How about... Missouri is better than every team in the SEC except those they couldn't beat?
