Thamel only mentioned the Cam Newton investigation, nothing about an Auburn investigation.

Kennedy said Roe Lach gave general answers at first, but Chizik’s persistence forced her into a bigger statement — that the N.C.A.A. was still investigating Auburn.

Cecil Newton did talk about the allegations earlier Tuesday on Paul Finebaum's syndicated sports talk radio show in Alabama.

Cecil Newton has never been on Paul Finebaum's show. I can state that with 100% fact.

quote:

The second-ranked Tigers' coach Gene Chizik dismissed the latest report as "pure garbage" Tuesday in an emotional 4 -minute rant. "I'm standing up here on a very important week trying to defend something that's garbage," Chizik said. The Tigers face rival Georgia on Saturday, and that's where Newton insists his focus lies.

Gene was specifically talking about the release or the supposed release of Cam's grades at UF. This was a day or so after that article.

quote:

The person, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he wasn't authorized to publicly discuss the matter, said the university also found nothing improper in the personal and church bank records of Newton's father, Cecil, an Atlanta pastor.

Where in that statement does it say thorough investigation? Your statement said both AU and Chiz said they had done a thorough investigation. That's an unnamed source not authorized to speak publicly.

quote:

Chizik described Newton as a "great human being that comes from a great family" and backed up his quarterback's Heisman Trophy credentials as well as his character.

It doesn't say anything about Cecil being a great guy. He is speaking about Cam's entire family. What is he supposed to do, throw them all under the bus?

Makes you wonder, if Thamel got this wrong, did he get anything else wrong?

NOPE!!! Anytime you read or hear a story from a reporter/broadcaster you can bet your arse it is the TRUTH!!!

No embellishing, slanting, one sided, fabrication, no bad sources (phantom included). The cold hard truth as it happened. I promise.

Dooley was the one that brought up investigations messing up recruiting.

The session began with Tennessee coach Derek Dooley calling for the NCAA to speed up investigations because lengthy probes "are killing recruiting," a coach told the Auburn Bureau of al.com. The coach said Chizik continued Dooley's request with Roe Lach.

Dooley.. somewhat general statement.

quote:

Chizik complained specifically that the NCAA was slow to say the investigation of Newton was over.

Chizik.. specific situation.

I can't help your coach was a stupidass to bring this all up in front of the other 11 SEC coaches and forcing the VP of NCAA Enforcement to dress him down in front of them.

Verified what? That Dooley ask the first question? If so Thamel's story has at least one mistake. How many more?

Excluding that Dooley asked a question does not make his article inaccurate.

I have no problem with Chiz confronting her.. the NCAA is talking out of both sides of its mouth. On one side they have publicly stated that they have found no evidence of wrong doing by AU or Cam, but apparently the NCAA doesn't believe a word the NCAA is saying.

I think she probably took offense to Chiz calling her out, but I think she made his point also.. It's the NCAA stating they have no evidence, but saying you will know this investigation is over when we damn well tell you it is.

Evidence smevidence, we don't need no stinking evidence.

The NCAA better come up with some rock solid evidence, because there is no way AU is gonna give up the MNC without a fight.

Says who? Thamel says that Chizik asked the first question "When she opened up the room for discussion". Dooley may have raised his hand and asked the question while she was talking, or in response to something she said, before she opened it up for general discussion among the whole room, in which case Thamel would not be mistaken at all.

When has Roe Lach or the investigation office said that they had no evidence?

824 post and it appears that no one read the article. Just posting on post. Did any one read any other versions of what happened? Apparently there are several versions out there.

How many versions are there where four coaches in the room have gone on the record to confirm?
