Well hopefully something will surface. I mean the only reasonable explanation at this point is that he is sitting on that fat 62 mill contract he signed and not putting the time in the cages like he should.

Just speaking with a friend tonight, he told me he is pretty sure tuesday will be big.

824 post and it appears that no one read the article. Just posting on post. Did any one read any other versions of what happened? Apparently there are several versions out there.

You mean the other story by auburn beat writer Charles Goldberg that quoted a "source from the auburn bureau of al.com"? That story? Yea, I'll take the one with direct quotes from coaches instead of the one with sunshine blurbs randomly sprinkled in.
Unless there are other versions, in which case I'm unaware, provide some links though, I'm bored and need some reading material.

In November, he, along with Au said they did a thorough investigation, stated nothing was wrong and Cecil was good people.
I don't recall that comment. What I do recall before all of the no comment stuff was Chiz and AU saying that Cam was eligible to play at Auburn. Other beat writers might have said AU had done a thorough investigation, but I don't believe AU ever publicly stated it during that time.

Which Tuesday? Been hearing that for 6 months now.

Other versions? Ok. Here's excerpts from the Opelika-Auburn News version.

quote:
Roe Lach made a presentation to a group including all of the conference's athletic directors and football and basketball coaches, according to the Times, and Chizik asked a series of questions about the NCAA's investigation into Newton, wondering specifically why the organization had not made the end of the investigation public.
Chizik told Roe Lach the investigation had hurt Auburn's recruiting, and his protests led to "a testy exchange," the Times reported.
“You’ll know when we’re finished,” Roe Lach told Chizik, according to the Times. “And we’re not finished.”
quote:
It is NCAA policy to notify a school once an investigation is complete, but the decision over whether to publicize the end of an investigation lies with the school.

The Times quoted Kennedy saying Roe Lach was speaking in generalities at the beginning of the seminar but sharpened her focus after Chizik's prodding.

The second-ranked Tigers' coach Gene Chizik dismissed the latest report as "pure garbage" Tuesday in an emotional 4 -minute rant.
"I'm standing up here on a very important week trying to defend something that's garbage," Chizik said. The Tigers face rival Georgia on Saturday, and that's where Newton insists his focus lies.
quote:
Newton has denied doing anything wrong in his recruitment. A person familiar with the situation said the university has received no letter of inquiry from the university and that an internal review of phone and e-mail records showed no contact with Kenny Rogers, who ESPN.com cited as the man who approached Bond.
The person, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he wasn't authorized to publicly discuss the matter, said the university also found nothing improper in the personal and church bank records of Newton's father, Cecil, an Atlanta pastor.
quote:
Chizik described Newton as a "great human being that comes from a great family" and backed up his quarterback's Heisman Trophy credentials as well as his character.
quote:
Cecil Newton did talk about the allegations earlier Tuesday on Paul Finebaum's syndicated sports talk radio show in Alabama.
"This is a character assassination attempt," he said on the show. "Who is going to profit and why are they are going to profit? We sure don't.
There's some of that "great family" that he defended. He basically took his word. There was no real investigation by Au.

The part that is confusing is that the NYT version said Chizick ask the first question. Every other version said Dooley ask the first question. Makes you wonder, if Thamel got this wrong, did he get anything else wrong?
Posted on 7/14/11 at 10:02 pm to au91and80
Dooley asked a general question about how long it takes investigations, is the way I read it. Chizik peppered her with specific questions about Cam and Auburn's investigation, to the point she flat out told him what he wanted (or not) to hear.
