Computers: "4 of the Top 5 are SEC"... Humans: "No, 4 of the Top 5 are Big Ten"

This is interesting...
Compare the top computer model (Sagarin) to the AP's latest Top 25, and notice how the media has literally INVERTED the Top 5 in the Big Ten's favor:
• Sagarin Ratings
1. SEC
2. SEC
3. Big Ten
4. SEC
5. SEC
• Latest AP Top 25
1. Big Ten
2. Big Ten
3. SEC
4. Big Ten
5. Big Ten
This is an example of why computer rankings (especially late in the season, with a large sample size) are vastly superior to human polls.
Every single SEC team is underrated by the AP, compared to what the more accurate & objective computer models say. The conference is being punished for being the best conference, when the opposite should be happening.
There is absolutely no way the SEC is going to move to a 9-game schedule with this kind of subjective bias in the ranking systems. It would actually be more sensible to move to a 7-game schedule, since the league is by far the deepest in the country and already cannibalizing itself with 8 games (and that's with Florida, Oklahoma, and Auburn having down seasons!).
Some wonder why the Big Ten and sports media have put enormous pressure on the SEC to add a 9th conference game... Well, this is why. The rest of college football hates and envies the SEC. The reasons are numerous and obvious.
Sooner than later, the SEC (Sankey) is going to have to address this problem, otherwise deserving SEC teams will be left out of the expanded playoff.
The solutions are to:
(1) Switch to using computer models for ranking & selecting the teams (similar to the BCS era) instead of biased human polls & committees.
Or....
(2) Give the SEC six (6) automatic bids to the playoff (and if it expands to 16, then give the SEC 8 automatic bids).
Sankey will have leverage to negotiate this. The fact is, the CFP needs the SEC more than the SEC needs the CFP... It has more powerhouse brands than all the other leagues combined.

It’s known: humans like bob the adders and the committee aren’t smart enough to do this.

It should have never went past 4. And I think the SEC is the best but to demand 50% of the 12 spots to the SEC is hilarious. I’d say the same about any conference as well.
The problem with the playoffs is so many people have to have their way and we keep expanding to appease them.

Not really. Look at computer models like Sagarin (currently, 6 of the top 11 are SEC teams).
With that said, if the other conferences don't want to offer the SEC more AQ bids, that's fine... Then simply make the playoff selections based on computer analytics rather than (biased) human polls, similar to the BCS era.

Yes really. You can still argue that we’re the best but from an organizational standpoint we don’t deserve 50% of the spots just because. Your logic is also off saying that it’s human influenced and ignoring weekly rankings that are human picks which lead to the final selections.

& 4 slots for 5 conferences was too small.

Someone will always be left out. Get over it.

HOW does Ga. go up 3 spots from 12th to 8th?

You wouldn't feel that way ("Get over it") if Arkansas were one of the deserving SEC teams being left out.
The best teams should be selected, period.

I won't get over a system that automatically removes a whole conference each season (some had 2 omitted) from even participating.
What if they dropped the SEC...you'ld not object?

If the computers didnt begin with a biased starting point teams like TX whose biggest win is Vandy wouldn't be ranked #2.

Let me be real honest with you. Arkansas won’t be a top 4 team and I doubt we make the playoffs unless the stars align. If we are deserving we will make it and that goes for everyone. You sound like a child to demand something when likely other teams could beat any other, especially now days with nil.

Get rid of preseason rankings until week 3 and get rid of dipshit voters who vote with bias because of conference or team affiliation

You don't think humans are biased (for or against) something/someone?

Does Kentucky get a playoff spot since they beat Ole Miss? This argument is about best or better teams, right? That’s what OP wants.
Yep that makes tons of sense ….
Actually we get to see this play out this week when Georgia, likely, jumps ole miss. Ole Miss should be ahead because they beat Georgia but everyone knows Georgia has played better teams so they’re probably more deserving. It’s a mess.

That's why i never liked "The Coach's Poll" because we know:
A - most gave that task to somebody else
B - no coach (nor anybody) could watch EVERY game that week to honestly rank teams
C - bias for/against teams/conferences were always mentioned
Computers have no favoritism & compares all the entered information from the games against each other & sorts the teams off that alone.

Also with OPs desire should vandy be a playoff team? They certainly showed they can beat the best. Yet they’re not discussed and I bet vandy doesn’t cross ops mind as a mizzou fan to be in cfp …

I have to laugh at how everyone lobbied for a playoff expansion lowkey because they hated how they felt the SEC benefited from it more than any other conference, not thinking about how it opened the floodgates for more SEC teams to get in.

My thing is so many said "Show who's the best on the field" & now we have the start of doing just that.
