Judging from recent history, I think those two schools should look at Oregon's recruiting class.

Look I'm not saying they're bad but you have to remember USC has been coming off sanctions and UCLA has been down until Mora came in. Things are about to change for Oregon especially without their Heisman QB. Not saying they will suck but I think most expect them to take a step back.

Did LSU and Ole Miss have better talent than us last year? Because we out-physicalled both of them, even though everyone told us there was no way we could out Bama Bama (held them to 2 yards rushing at the beginning of the fourth quarter) or out LSU LSU.

All I'm saying is that a lot can be said for Bert's development. When he was at Wisconsin he literally had, out of the entire country, and by a large margin, the biggest difference between actual success and projected success based on recruiting rankings . He's also already shown himself to be a far better recruiter than Petrino, although that's not hard to do.

Based on what?

Based on playing in the East. Based on living in Columbia vs Starkville. Based on untapped recruiting area

Very good point. Being a head coach at a P5 school means you are in the top 1% of the coaching profession

If USC and/or UCLA overtake Oregon in football stature, I'll be surprised. UCLA is getting more competitive, yes, and USC may be in better shape than in recent years, but they're aren't rising above Oregon. At least not permanently.

It doesn't seem like a high pressure, winning culture there. Even Arkansas sees the Nutt years with Dmac and Jones as huge under achievements. Likewise with LSU lately.

Your years with Manziel look like "ho-hum, Sumlin is doing a great job"

Maybe that will change since you finally splashed the cash on a legit defense, but that is yet to be seen.

Lol. Vs MS, AL and La recruiting areas? That argument just plain misses the mark dude.

It's laughable, at best, to compare Oregon's history and financial status to that of Southern Cal and UCLA.

Yes, I posted that keeping in mind that Oregon has Nike in their back pocket.

Endowment figures: 2015
Southern Cal - $4.6 billion
UCLA - $3.23 billion
Oregon - $627 million

To those saying Bama will take a huge dive after Saban, all you need to do is look at LSU to see how foolish this is.

There's no guarantee you will hire a coach as good as Miles.

Agreed.

A&M's fanbase doesn't have the intense desire to be a championship caliber team or bust that all other SEC teams do (not counting Vanderbilt). It's a part of their "salt of the earth" mentality.

If anything it's the other way around, Oregon is the new kid on the block.

USC will be back to running the PAC again, just like they always have.

Hence the word "untapped". Learn to read. MS, AL & LA are recruited heavily by Bama, UA, AU, LSU, OM and MSU already. Mizzou could be the recruiting power of the midwest.

Alabama will hire a huge name, for whatever that is worth.

That name will have an NFL roster at his disposal, all the resources in the world. However, he will be saddled with truly immense expectations.

I view these lists as which job provides you with the best tools to win right now while also able to pay you the most money possible. Tools being facilities, access to recruits, general admin and fan support for the program, etc.

I really think this list is pretty good, these are impossible to measure anyways. An excellent program can be average or bad with a bad coach, several names in the top 25 prove that. And as said, some would rather build than keep a winning thing going. Then there are issues like alma Mater, geographic ties etc

Honestly I doubt it. People say this all the time about their job and it rarely happens. When was the last "huge name" bama hired before Saban? Probably Bear.

Which has nothing to do with the athletic dept.
