More money would not matter that much considering expansion would lower the number of OOC games we play and those would be cupcakes most likely. In the end, our conference would turn into a watered down version of what it used to be...with long standing rivalries, where every game mattered, where you could drive to every campus in the SEC in reasonable time, etc.

Not necessarily. The number of conference members does not dictate the number of in conference games. For example, PAC teams play 9 conference games while the Big 10 plays 8 even though they have more teams.

ESPN.
You get the point though, I think.

When you have Texas, A&M, OU, etc. in your divison you won't be looking to play many OOC games, tough ones at that.

When you have games like
LSU vs Texas
Florida vs OU
Bama vs OU
etc...
You won't need the revenue from OOC games, trust me.

SEC needs to dump MSU and Vandy... Maybe USC and Ole Miss

Charter members will only leave if they want to.

if we booted r-kansas out of the SEC, who would SEC teams schedule as homecoming opponents?

How f#cking convenient, a Gatorfan that wants four more teams just to the west of LSU and Ark, two from where LSU and Ark recruit heavily, yet still proposing an expanded SEC with all of Fla's massive landmass and populace all to itself as the lone SEC entry..GFY!

MSU=No!
Vandy=maybe
USC=maybe
Ole Miss=No!
You add Florida St. or even UNC to the east and things are finally balanced over there imho. Florida & UGA (UF more) have run that conference for the past decade, with flashes of Tennessee being good. Atleast have a "Big 3" in the East.

This isn't about strategic positioning its about economics genius. Did you even read my post? UF already controls a strong majority of the Florida market. Do Ark and LSU share any significant portion of the Texas market? I think not.
This is besides the fact that FSU turned down an offer to join the SEC in the 90s.
Miami is so absolutely different culturally than the SEC you would be astonished. Have you ever been down there?
USF is a joke of a school and would bring the conference as a whole down in every way imaginable.

And genius, I'm telling you politics and positioning, play everybit as much and more in these type decisions than does expanding league market $hare..as should you hem yourself in and perish into mediocrity..what have you gained by a slightly larger paycheck?
It's why politics in Texas cost the SEC, Tex and ATM back in 1991, because they(Tx Gov and politicos) insisted Baylor and other(s) come too, thus Baylor and TT to Big-12.
And why the SEC dropped back to a fallback plan of Ark and USCe(oh wow, what huge market expansion the SEC sought and found with these two..see genius!), as warm bodied filler to help make two divisions for a SECCG.
You're f@cking nuts if you think that SEC ADs are gonna let four teams be all added to the extreme western side, when they are all Middle America, Southwest, just due to adding the prize UT and the state's market, when plenty of folks in Tx already watch the CBS 3PM game, and the SEC schools are already stocked full of prized recruit Tx kids and QBs.
You think I'm the only one thinking of Fla having all of their state to themselves as an unfair edge? I assure you it is now, and would be an issue of contention on future expansion, for all the other SEC states that have two SEC entries, and/or small geographical landmasses and populaces like LSU, Ark, USCe, etc..
There is no way, when considering what UF Athletics has done the last twenty-plus years across a myriad of sports, and even more so of recent due to dominating FSU and Mia(small private school) in-state in football recruiting, largely using their SEC pedigree in landing these 5* kids over the two ACCers, that future expansion without adding one Fla school at minimum, not be a major point of contention, for at least a few astute ADs.
