but crybabies kept suing them and going to court for things they felt were unfair and the courts kept siding with the players.
I guess you were also okay with Richt's brother-in-law getting players to sign merchandise which he sold but the player deserved to be suspended when he got paid to sign helmets.

How does a business subject to the laws of the United States ... and this is a business, it's long since gone beyond being "amateur sports" ... rid themselves from jurisdiction of the court systems?
It was always ... ALWAYS ... a house of cards destined to collapse, but fans who think this is somehow "different" than any other business are convinced that all it will take is just the right arse-kicker to put everything in order. And they can't let go of their naive illusions that "sports people" are going to fix this.
Nick Saban would say "Yes boss" to the federal judges just like the NCAA folks have.
The only way this gets fixed is collective negotiations between the teams and the players to rein in the portal ... NIL is never going back in the genie's bottle ... in which the players surrender the complete freedom they have now in return for considerations from the schools (i.e., if the players have to stay for 2 years, the university has to honor that for 2 years too barring the worst misbehavior).
